Quite simple

A Practice button where you create your own lobby and can lock, kick and move players into teams for practice purposes.

Example a fleet wants to practice to better their skills in line fighting so leader creates the lobby and selects ships that are allowed to enter, players join they move into their teams if you want it 6 v 6 or have all 12 and select AI as the opponent its up to the lobby leader.

You don't lose durabilities nor do you gain any rewards its just purely for training and skirmishing between friends, allies or rivals

Im quite surprised that this kind of option isn't already in game.

I guess the quick response would be that it is not realistic. There are the fleet missions for this purpose.

Yeah the missions really are practice.  You can do missions with groups, someone elsewhere on the forum suggested that you group members' missions be visible by the whole group.  Of course that still does leave you exposed on the OW and at some risk, but if you haven't already seen it, you will see that the serious PVP'ers want you to be fully exposed at all times no matter what your experience level.  And you would always gain XP and gold.

I've been advocating for something like this for a long time. So +1! :)

About the fleet missions. They do not serve this purpose at all... It's basically a "No-risk" way of farming XP/Gold.

Honestly you can't even compare the fleet missions (PvE fights) to PvP fights.

The AI/Fleet missions are mindless and, to be frank, rather boring. (Well, unless you go 5-Players vs 15-20-AI...)

And if the only way you practice is through fleet missions then you will be slaughtered the first time you meet an organized/coordinated fleet of players on the OW.

Honestly i don't understand why you would be against a skirmish room? We have a duel room already, why not a skirmish room?

Did I say somewhere I was against it?  If I read myself correctly, I was making a statement by agreeing that missions are practice.  How does any new captain get good?  Primarily, I would suggest missions.  Coordinating a group in a practice session does have merit, don't think I denied that.

A training room would be beneficial.  WoT had one where only the consumables, ammo and repairs cost.  So maybe repairs cost for this training room.

Unfortunately your moving away from the idea proposed with saying that fleet missions are there for practicing, its not about missions its about allowing players to practice their tactics between themselves and if need be they can then implement the AI to practice full line formations considering that you can get 25 AI in a fleet mission, POTBS for example had a skirmish room where you could have battles as practice between your friends and even have friendly fleet battles between clans and try different ideas and tactics, it allows developing and making a stronger nation allowing your nation clans to practice and improve.

In time the once land is implemented into port battles then the port you own you can chose them for practice also.

Personally i'd very much like to see this type of skirmish room implemented, just like the one that was put in during the latter stage of Sea Trials. The only point i can see being raised against it would be that it would deter players from using other mechanics that are in the game such as ow or missions but even with that argument the player is still playing the game, and in the process gains no advantage over someone who'd like to just play OW, the only difference being now both players can enjoy the game to the fullest extent. Why not have both players enjoy the game and continue to improve.

Would be great to be able create teams and practice under controlled conditions. Positive option. Helpful and constructive.

To declare that having this choice deters from other NA options presumes that anyone using a practice room would still be playing NA if the practice room was not available. Perhaps using a practice room would add extra game time for some players. Or might encourage others to play at times when they would otherwise not play at all.

Arguably it could be a handy tool for creating more skilled PVP opponents.

Sounds more appropiate for an arena competitive game, useful tool  to sharpen players skill and group coordination before engagements. But it hurts immersion and open world , having players "training" in the open gives more opportunity for random engagements.

We can make the kind of historical maneuvers in any instanced mission (after you clean it of enemies) and even better than our historical counterparts, as you can count on IAs as sparrings.

What you cannot (should not ) do in those instaces is shooting your partners...but then it looks quite realistic too

No its not true. ppl dont do pvp because they afraid. They afraid their low skill lvl, they afraid they dont know how to proper fight. Because they are not prepared. They have NO PLACE to prepare under experienced team mate aye.

I dont care if its realistic or not. game hurt cause of lack rooms like this proposed.

Great not a new idea. But it is so necessary to have it.

The current skirmish rooms are lack of basic mentioned fuctionality. It makes it useless in terms of need.

Get into the thick of it.

Stick with a team mate, work as a double team.

When "loss" is on the line one has to adapt fast.

Easy to learn, hard to master.

BUT... given that tournament is over the idea of using those instanced 3+1v3+1 for training could be viable ?

This is NOT consistent with my experience over months of play, and that of the many people I sail and fight with in PvP One EU.

Learn the local ports, their resources and how you can gather them and change them into valuable products you can sell at a profit.

Use that money to buy a decent ship, such as a Cutter, Pickle or Privateer.

Use that ship to capture some "AI" traders that constantly cruise about.

Take the trader's cargo, maybe send their ship to an outpost port to use as extra storage.

Work up to a larger ship as you advance in rank.

BE PATIENT.

Join a clan or group in your neighborhood that patrol together or do "fleet missions".

Get on Teamspeak and listen to and talk with the more experienced players.

Most will be happy to tell you how to:

  1. trade and craft profitably
  2. choose and arm your ship for your skill level and mission
  3. manual sail (very important)
  4. maneuver in formation
  5. coordinate and concentrate fire
  6. work as a team or pack.

Listen to them.

Sail with them in Open World coastal patrol or escort Player traders.

Sail with them in Admiralty Orders and Fleet Missions.

Patrol solo if you like, but call out hostile targets to your friends in Teamspeak, and coordinate your response.

Do not be afraid to lose a ship to hostiles.  It is just pixels, and but for the biggest, new ones have "five lives."

Soon you'll realize ships are cheap, as long as you don't want the biggest, newest, baddest one.

Rinse, repeat.  Grow skilled.

Not sure if you were around when this game first started and allowed testers in back in 2014 but it was an arena style game between players before they developed the open world concept, you would be surprised at how many dont play the game anymore due to the change over and lack of actual structural content and wrong implementation of many features.

We need to have a balance between realism and balance to make the game function properly, people can go on the open world and fight while others would prefer to use the feature i have suggested, it cuts out all the time wasting running around in OW and dealing with broken mechanics and abuse of players to avoid battles all together, people would be more likely to log on and play with this added feature then not having it at all, i personally would prefer to do arena battles in game while i wait for the developers to get more features and a stable economic system in place. Its easier to play other games then waste 2 hours sailing around looking for fights and dealing with a range of broken mechanics.
