ZheGerman Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Dear fellow captains, I'd like to submit a humble proposal for general discussion: A clan XP Bank. Here is what I would suggest: - Clans can determine if a certain percentage of XP earned in missions or fleet missions (or both) are not awarded to the captaion(s) who completed a mission, but to the clan - This could be set by clan admins to a certain level, like 5% - This XP is saved for the clan and can be allocated by clan admins as they see fit, to individual captains - XP could be awarded for supporting the clan in ways which are normally not rewarded with XP, like screening fleet for port attacks, escort duty, espionage, recon etc. What I hope this will achieve: Clans can either set XP to 0%, everybody eats what they kill, or very high, e.g. 50%, depending on what type of clan they want to run. Clans can incentivize people to do things for the clan and captains can choose whether they want to run missions/PVP or help out the clan. There is no need to overcomplicate things by creating custom missions, admins should just be able to award available XP points from the bank. Yes, this could lead to people abusing it to give all the XP to their friends, or something, but then you can just have happy discussions in clan about it Looking forward to your feedback.
Balsafer Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 The main killer of this idea is what you pointed out in your suggestion people can abuse it. What I see will happen is it will never get used or some players will abuse it.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 So , magically, the feats you achieve as a captain, whatever they may be, which are measured by XP ( silly in itself but it is a game after all ), are suddenly and without any reason whatsoever attributed to another captain which was not in the same spot, battle, engament, side of the globe, planet ? Yes. Very radical.

What I see will happen is it will never get used or some players will abuse it. Well, that is always a risk, as I mentioned even for the regular clan bank. Its part of the risk you run. But it could be reduced by limiting it sligthly, for example max XP per day for each rank. Remember, this is not a system that should change the way people level, just a small amount to reward people for helping the clan. Limit could be about as much as you get for doing a solo mission for that level (including the damage), so for example 400 for a Post Captain. Wouldn't change the balance of the game and would not provide an alternative route for leveling, just a little extra for helping out others.

Yes. Very radical. Keep calm. Well, as for the reason: You help out the clan, that is the reason why you could even receive anything. Effort should be rewarded, even if the game mechanics do not currently support it. If your comment is more regarding "game" mechanics vs. real life: If you work together with the other captains in your squadron, you gain their trust and swap war stories, which let's you participate a little bit in their experience. Sure, not a whole lot, but just a little bit. Also, in reality, a captain would also learn (gain experience) by doing other duties than fighting, for example running blockades or running convoys, even if there was no attack. Since it could be strictly limited in scale (see other response), nobody could just level by getting XP from the clan.
