Destraex Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Wondering whether we can replay the 1700s-1800s revolutionary and napoleonic wars by having our ships join a faction or having faction specific ships? This way I would have a sense of purpose instead of just being a gun for hire.
Thundershield Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I'm not sure the actual wars will be represented. As I understand it, the game is being developed around open world, and small(ish) custom battles, not factional warfare. But If the Open World gets developed, stuff like that could potentially be fan made.
Destraex Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Actually the original notes do specify that you can choose where you are born and what nation to play I just noticed.
Mirones Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 jep you can choose to be born german and serve in the spanish navy for example
Destraex Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 "No levels or classes: You determine what you will become. Player will get naval ranks and court titles though that will determine his/her income, admiralty or national benefits. "
Captain_Wick Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Interesting, so it will not be nation specific such as PotBS. So you could have a battle where everyone is using the USS Constitution, seems a bit odd.
Feretier Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 we plan to have unique ships stat wise. I mean literally - your ship will be different from my ship even if it is the same class and same model and same sails. In addition to that some vessels will have hidden bonuses that you will only uncover by sailing in certain conditions. or you might never uncover them - sell the ship and never find out it was a gem. Add paint, customization, bad weather ... and many other ships class + open world, i don't think we'll see much redundancy. Unless maybe you facebook a giant USS Constitution "short drink".
Captain_Wick Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 So every ship can be customized by the owner, sounds great.
Mirones Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 yes at the moment you can choose the type+size of the guns on each deck. you can i.e. sail the victory with 9-12-18-24 or 12-18-24-32 or 12-24-32-42 long guns or caronades
