got off one broadside in PvE and while reloading for a second when the screen flickered and went grey. on eventually restarting my rig the welcome screen immediately turned blue. for now, at last until I get a new gfx card in a coupla day, I have to run in safe mode. I can see there's a lotta potential to Naval Action, 40 ship battles is just crazy and I wanna get in one :o . I had an idea of my own for PvE, if it's not already been thought of. individual missions similar to Master and Commander movie. however, until NA is more suitably optimized, being able to handle slightly overclocked gfx cards and not having to be run in compatibility mode, I'm gonna have to remain beached for the time being. I hope the 55 US, far more in canada, I shelled out wasn't a waste

Uh your hardware needs to be up to the task of running the game; the game doesn't need be'optimised' to run on your hardware, lol.

Zero issues here running this game maxed.

If I'm not mistaken, the devs have stated that the game has yet to be fully optimized....

well, seeing as this: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z; FX 8350; Asus 7870; Samsung SyncMaster 2243SWX; Corsair AX860i psu; 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR3; Corsair   M4 SSD 128GB, WD 1TB; x18 DVR212D; 7SP1 likely wouldn't be under spec, I can play a majority of games on highest settings. I just hoe the new card doesn't have the same prob, cua I REALLY hate having to reinstall windows. it's probable the 7870 died to some degree

Mate, your computer blows mine out of the water (except I have 12GB of RAM) and I run Naval Action with 60 frames in everything but maybe 25v25 1st Rate PBs.

Your current GFX card may just overheat when playing NA, but hopefully it shouldn't be a problem when you get your new one.

more than just over heated, me thinx. uninstalling thru device manager gets me a normal restart/desktop, but, in reinstalling the driver and restarting  I get the same no text blue screen at the welcome screen. we'll see what happens when I get the r9 890 in a day or 2. being in safe mode networking, I can't access the card's control panel, unless there's some secret sauce don't know, nor can I get to it on the normal desktop.. I really wanna play this, after seeing a 30min battle on utube by Jingles

Sounds like the Graphics Card walked off the plank mate.  As far as the remaining hardware you rig will run this game like a BOSS!  Most of my fellow mates here smoke my rig, mine is around 5 years old now and in the gaming world...that's far outdated.  But the RIG I built is still going strong and tearing up games like it was nothing!  Just goes to show that you don't need the latest, hottest, rig or hardware on the market.

* ANTEC 900 Mid-tower.

* MSI 890FXA-GD65 mainboard
* AMD PHENOM II X4 965 @ 3.71Ghz -Stable-

* EVGA Ge-Force GTX 750-Ti 1GB Ram @ 128bit bus.

* 8GB RAM

* 250GB WD Raptor HHD -Primary Gaming- WD 500GB HHD -General Use-

* OCZ 750W PS.

Getting between 50 - 60 fps on max settings no issues at all.  Will be updating Graphics card to a 2GB @ 256bit bus here in about a week.  Let you all know how it goes mates!

Current OS is Windows 7 Pro. (64bit).

She's old...but still runs games like a BOSS...!

Trigger, your systems sucks!   :)   I'm just kidding, mate.  I've been looking at new laptops for the same reason as you mentioned above, mine is dated for the gaming world.  Still, I prefer to play on my nice desktop.

I think there is some ENGLISH in there somewhere -- in fact I now there is ... I just cant seem to translate it!

Just in awe of the conveyance of compu-speak! lol

Cheers!

woohoo, new card works, but I'm more than a bit leery of running NA, at least for the time being, after shelling out 690 $s for this thing. I'm not willing to run the risk of frying this one, as it comes with a factory overclock. I WILL, however keep an eye on Naval Action for when it is better optimized.

yankyaeger, nope, no English here :P:wacko:

Further to my comment earlier regarding your other card - the game is not responsible for bringing your video card to the threshold of failure, as evidenced by the multitudes of people playing this game with zero issues on the graphical side of things. The onus is on you to ensure that you're installed correctly, set up correctly with current drivers and no operating system or other hardware issues to speak of, and that you're not creating a scenario where either your CPU or GPU is overheating, and by this I mean ensuring proper airflow across critical components. It's more important to draw hot air away from them than it is to blow cool air on to them.

I guess I just find your comments a little disturbing in that you seem the think the 'game' is causing your graphics issues; but either way good luck with your new card and I hope you're able to enjoy the game.

Hornblower... What case are you using? You running fans or liquid cooling? Sounds to me mate that you are having a cooling issue with your case, or you are having too much voltage running to your PCIE slots, have you tried setting your BIOS settings to factory defaults? This will bring the CPU, RAM, PCIE slots back to stock voltage, also check and rest all connectors to all hardware, and finally inspect and test your PS, you may have a faulty one spiking voltage to your Video card, happen to me once! PS dang near fried my old rig due to a power surge.

Regular usage of above will prevent what happened to your old card from happening to the new one ;)

In all seriousness - video cards wear out, it happens.  I'm running a R9 290x at well over factory overclock with a stock cooling setup and no issues with NA.  Keep an eye on GPU temps and keep the air flowing and all will be fine.

The laptop I traded my desktop for has a GeForce 730M built in.  I have to crank the settings down to minimum but I can still play the game.  Don't whine about the lack of optimal performance, just get a new card (or laptop if need be).  I had to go without for a few months, I know, it's torture, but totally worth coming back to. :)

funnily enuff, when installing crimson there was a NA profile button, so I underclocked a bit and fans @ 100% and put to sea. NA worked as intended, except it wasn't my intention to be sunk...., twice:(

Sooooo....  I run with no problems on a nVidia 550ti   I get 20-25 fps in open world and its pre-set to 30 in battle instances..  I run on HIGH, but turn off AA  The ONLY time I see my machine struggle is in large PB's when everyone joins and everyone does their initial broadsides all at once.  After about 5-10 seconds, it all levels out.

THIS^^^

I really didnt believe people when they told me that giving a thorough cleaning would fix my video Card issue when I was crashing last year.

Lo and behold, i broke everything down including my heat sink and blew the hell out of everything, and i've been playing happily ever since.  Now I do it as part of a monthly PM schedule.

The amount of crap I found in all the crevices was GROSS!!!!

Upgrading to new cards is sometimes a pain.  If your current MoBo doesn't have PCIe3 support then you're going to limit the card performance (it will still work if it fits) or you may want to upgrade the MoBo, in which case then you might need a new processor if the socket is different from the one you already built.  I recently noticed all the cascading effects when one of my video cards' outputs seemed to be going bad (HD7970) and I was also thinking about UHD monitors.  And don't forget the extra power supply requirements, 4 times the amount for crossfiring 2 cards in 16 lane slots, you might need a bigger power supply too.  And the case has to be capable of getting rid of all the extra heat.  Dominoes.

OK Vernon, you have encouraged me to do a maintenance blowout of my computer case.  But it does remind me how nice this Corsair case is, with it's filters and ample ventilation effectiveness. ;)
