Ojibwa_Wind Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Impossible to do. Leaks which you know are way over done. Every AI trader has at least one to two escorts or more. While trying to cap traders AI just ponds you and leaks all over occur relentlessly you cant cap a traders. No single traders like iv seen in the pass. A lot of teed off ppl in this game today.
Atomic Moose Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) i agree with you have not seen one trader alone on the ow at all and people are raging all over chat they broke this game in one patch for something that wasnt even a problem before now it is Edited April 13, 2016 by Atomic Moose
Haratik Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Relax people, the game is still in Alpha and is NOT a finished product. We're testers for a reason!
maturin Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 L2P? Nothing has changed. You hit the trader with a few broadsides of chain, then engage the escorts in a running fight while keeping within a few shiplengths of the trader. A real pain in the ass against comparable ships, but that's what escorts are for.
Ojibwa_Wind Posted April 13, 2016 Author Posted April 13, 2016 Not like this the AI reload time is incredible. Non stop by AI. I tried to fire like the AI on shot at a time no comparison to the AI ship.
Blackjack McGee Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I am not getting paid as a tester. Yes, I paid for an Alpha version and I understand what that means but I still paid for a product. This recent patch although it has done a lot of good, the bad far outweighs any benefits. No more traders, leaks sinking ships uncontrollably, etc these are big bad things for the future of this product. 1
Atomic Moose Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 the problem is there are no more traders alone in the ow that is one of many problems in this patch just undo the patch fix what is broken and repatch after all were are just testing so who cares
Suenami Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Ai is getting more rediculous with every patch ......reloading twice as fast as i am and hitting with 95% of shots . Ill have a break from this circus .
Marcomies Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I haven't played enough battles against the AI yet in this patch to give accurate feedback about this but giving AI unfair buffs is never a good way to compensate for its lack of tactics or "skills". It's very hard to have any sort of realistic predictions about the AI's capabilities in combat when it's not limited the same rules as the player. There is nothing more annoying than losing to an equal AI just and only because it has superpowers. The players can adjust the difficulty of their battles by picking enemies larger or smaller than themselves. There's really no need to give the AI unfair advantages for that reason. In the long run, the capabilities of the AI should be improved by improving their individual skills, situational awareness and cooperation/tactics instead. When it comes to the open world AI fleets, the current patch really feels like an overkill. There is next to no NPC fleets to attack for a lone player or even a small group and the massive AI fleets with half of the ships being 1st rates are just really hurting the immersion of the game. First thing I saw when I logged in after the patch was three 25 ship NPC fleets with smallest ships being 3rd rates, patrolling around Port Royal. That is literally more ships than what took part in the real Battle of Trafalgar both sides combined and probably more 1st rates than what was involved in the Napoleonic wars. In my opinion 1st rates should be reserved mainly as fleet flagships and be limited mostly to Large fleet missions and epic events. 1
BallsOfSteel Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 AI fleets, have simply disappeared, not one trader sighted in over two hours of gaming, glad I captured a Gross Venture when I did LOL>
LeBoiteux Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Every AI trader has at least one to two escorts or more. Hopefully ! AI traders without escort ? Please, no. There is another recently created thread about AI : http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/13103-ow-ai/
Marcomies Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) Hopefully ! AI traders without escort ? Please, no. The main problems with AI traders always having escorts in the current game would be that the traders teleport out of the battle instance if they are not tagged so you can't deal with the escorts first. Also it's very implausible that a single small trader ship would be escorted every time or by anything more than one or two small ships. If the traders have more escorts than that, they should be forming convoys with several traders. Edited April 14, 2016 by Marcomies

Also it's very implausible that a single small trader ship would be escorted every time or by anything more than one or two small ships. If the traders have more escorts than that, they should be forming convoys with several traders. Single small trader should always be escorted by one and only small warship, not less. Because there's no fun in attacking a lonely trader. That's farming. About trader escaping form the instance while you fight the escort : AI never coordinate the trader and her escort : the trader flees while the warship attacks you, that's all. Attack the trader first and leave the warship behind, running after you. Sink or use chains on the trader and then sink the warship while staying close to the trader. Current system, that is trader ship escaping the instance when far away enough from you is much better than the previous one (a timer). If trader sails far away enough from you, you won't be able to catch her up anyway. A much quicker but more boring way to deal with traders with escort is to sink the trader first then sink/capture the escort. However, AI traders are boring, fleeing in a straight line waiting for death/capture. Would it be possible / realistic / interesting to have AI trader always trying to hide from you behind the escort, that is using the warship as a shield/rampart and then only when her escort sinks, she would try to flee?
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Thing is before this patch I would already attack traders with a lot of escorts. The amount of cargo they had would shy the lone ones. Had to be aggressive to ward off escorts and keep the trader in distance or tagged. Great fights versus AI and way better than herding the mission cows. So nothing new all is good.
