LionsRoar Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I have been playing the new patch for a couple hours now, and tried as many of the new aspects as time allowed. Let me start by recognizing that the Devs are obviously working hard to give us a good gaming experience. So now let me share my first impressions.The Good1. Land spawning in your instance. Love it! Adds a fresh and challenging element to tagging ships.2. Experience per rank reduction. While it feels like too much of a reduction overall it was nice that you're making the game less grindy...The Bad1. Stupid NPC's! One trader snow beached its self, and the NPC's forced on you during missions ram and get in your way more than helping.2. Anti-ganking Mechanism. While the idea of even having such a mechanic in a PvP game seems awful carebear. Simply pay attention to ships and players in your vicinity, and learn to tag defensively and run if a group moves on you. BUT, what is really horrendous about this mechanic is that it applies to NPC's. I left out of a port just behind two friends and was near, but not close enough and got left standing there in OW as thy tagged into an instance.The Ugly1. Leaks! This needs to be hotfixed today! Horribly unbalanced when an oak Connie with green extra pump and 2/3rds armor sinks from leaks. I was totally unable to use guns or sail since so many of my crew were on fixing leaks. BTW, I wasn't undercrewed either.I will try to share more over the coming days as I experience more of the patch. I hope the Devs take the time to review our input and continue to improve the game experience. 3

Robbert Dole Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) I'm gonna disagree here, and might as well make my own list because why not. Good: 1.) Land, nuff said 2.) Starting battles in position with cannons unloaded, hopefully maybe now those 'frigate with 60 crew players' will get the hint Bad: 1.) Experience per rank reduction. Way too much of a reduction, considering they have said they will not wipe xp then they need to be much more careful with their changes. Leveling wasn't hard before but now its just absurd. You are not supposed to log in and fight a battle a night and be in a sol by the end of the week/month. 2.) Leaks- Good idea, would love it if leaks were actually dangerous but this is a bit much, tone it down 75% of their current strength and we'll see where we are. (edited: after playing around some moved from ugly and reccomended strength changed; they really aren't that bad like some would have you believe) Ugly: 1.) Fluffy Fishy Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Here are my selections, although somewhat geared to PVE Good:Land, the new combat maps look incredible, love them.Fleet Missions, they really add something interesting to the PVE concept, they are fun and challenging. Bad:The NPC fleets are now too big, they are crazy, while I like to see more bigger fleets having 3 santissimas, 8 victories, 7 pavels, 9 bellonas and 3 3rds is just silly.The sudden shortage of NPC traders, seriously? The most numerous ship type historically seems to have gone all but extinct.The Cannon reload seems a bit too much, it should be more based on the old undercrewing mechanic so they load together, not the new one if possible, although just for the opening load when you start the battle.UglyLeaks are horrific, even 1/3 as effective as they are now would be plenty, even too much then.Experience boost, I was actually kind of disappointed by suddenly being a rear admiral, I hit RA and crafting level 50 today, now what do I do? snackbar Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) Good-Land is awesome.-I actually like no more capping ships. -I can choose any level mission!!-Fleet missions! Bad-Leaks. Ramming in particular. -OW AI fleets insanely large. Seriously overboard on the difficulty. (6x santi 12x vic...really???) -Friendly AI in fleet missions (they really get in the way + leaks from ramming = nightmare).-Land scaling seems odd (my ship is too big? this is subject to change).-Land is way uglier on OW (i set it to max settings, probably this is for performance so take it with a grain of salt)-All frigates in stores (no different than capped ships, worse actually because 5 dura) .Ugly-Have to sail to edge of circle to join battle. -Anti-gank. Worst change I've seen so far. People stuck outside of battles. Splitting pb fleets etc. It's really bad. Edited April 14, 2016 by snackbar 1
