LarryFromSales Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) As one who had an ingermanland crafted for them a couple days ago, will 1 durability be added onto my ship when it becomes a 4th rate? This is presuming it follows the standard rate of durability reduction from 5th rate = 5 dura ; 4th rate = 4 dura ; 3rd rate = 3, etcetera. Edited April 12, 2016 by LarryFromSales
Zeal Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 +1 for these notes, I look forward to checking this patch out
Arsilon Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 If you wanted to join a 3v1 gank as a 4th player - turning it into 4v1 - yes, you won't enter that battle. thats exactly what 80% of the players wanted Can you link the discussion thread on this? The only poll I found paints a much different picture on player opinion on the 'problem' of ganking. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/10687-discussion-the-ganking-edition/ 1
DarkspaceII Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 The patch post didn't say anything about already captured ships before they apply the patch (would be a bit strange too), so no, cap as much as you want before the patch is applied. that is actually bad for me i dont want to cap AIs at all ...
randommexi Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 wow, 14 pages of people crying about not being able to cap NPC ships. am I the only one that thinks this is a good thing for the economy? now people will build ships! yay, is this a bad thing? 4

You are not alone, my friend If the labour hour shortage gets too much out of hand, the devs can simply increase labour hour output with the push of a button. The advantages of this awesome patch far outweigh the drawbacks. We will see more NPC bought basic ships on the ocean and mastercraft ships will be just that - mastercraft and a little more rare sight than now. 2
Dekillos Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) Soften the ganking. Attacks in the protected areas are now prohibited by design (even on NPCs) to avoid pulling your fleets into battles by hidden alts or by mistakes People cannt attack enemies and gank fleet now can afk and troll in safe capital zone? Edited April 12, 2016 by DekTo (Dekillos)
Mrdoomed Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Ok i didnt see a answere on this that i can understand yet so ill ask. On the softing the gank thing does that mean if you amd a friend are in a group you can no longer attack smaller ships or trade ships because of BR difference or is it only for those wishing to enter the battle after it starts? We spend most of our time in front of enemy capitals and are allways fighting 2 vs 6 or 7 or more do now this means we can pick a target smart , attack and not have to worry about all hos friends comming right ? If thats the case nice, if im reading it wrong dumb it up for someone on pain meds and rum lol.

I think its GREAT. I for one sink almost everyone anyway and now i wont have to see ao many 3rd rates with cutter fleets in tow lol. To me it makes building ships in far off places even more valuable AND means more small ships to attack. Schwing schwing.
SKurj. Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) wow.. thats a big hammer swung with this patch.. as far as npc captures go, its sort of what I have been thinking all along, though perhaps just a little heavier handed (i'd be fine with npc 6th rates being cappable) Not sure about the fixed npc prices of products... but just like most of this patch I am going to havr to reserve judgement until i get to play it! Teutonic Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 After looking at it further and talking with some folks, I'm worried with how the "anti gank" mechanic will do what you want it to do. At least from players that I've talked to, it will significantly decrease PvP everywhere. Well, it's Alpha, so got to test this out and see how it goes.
iR_Willow Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 The whole inability to cap npc ships such as a spare brig or merc hurts me, followed by the battle equalizer thing. Was in a battle tryign to distract 4 spanish frigates from my friends connie, I got close enough to harass a trinc. God I wish I could become a fire ship and set her aloft. But first I gotta know how fireships worked irl. o.o
iR_Willow Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 So now I cannot cap a mercury and do a similar uneven historical battle that your Russian merc fought because the new balance system. Sweet. Might as well make it a matchmaker system for every pvp/pve battle.
vonKollenberg Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 +1 Not happy with the ship capping changes. I play solo/duo and PVP. This effectively does not allow me to play the game as I have. I do not wish to craft or to join anyones' clan. GG rekt i guess 1
Willum Povy Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Taking out capture of NPC ships is a bad change. The admiralty better pay ship+cannon cost and not give us the shaft.Add to this patch: No outposts in freeports, deliveries can be sent from freeports to national outposts. Best ganking fix.

Vernon Merrill Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Since the limiting factor on a ship of the line will now be craft hours, any additional gold will only increase inflation. Adding gold without addressing the bottleneck (crafting hours, number of crafters with 3rd rate+ BPs) will be counter-productive if anything. Or, you know, you won't be able to. The demand for 3rd rates will go through the roof. There already aren't enough crafters who can keep up with demand for ships of the line. Everything up to third rates will be available to purchase now. The poster stated that he doesn't want to be bothered with a clan/crafting. Are you saying he can't play now because he can't sail around in a single dura capped 3rd rate solo?!? Rubbish. 2
Mrdoomed Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 It's not a good change. You could have just coded the game so that Bellonas and better are automatically claimed by the admiralty. This change screwed small clans and solo players. It's going to reduce open world PvP significantly - I now have to risk 1 dura on a 3-dura $1,5m 3rd rate rather than use a captured one. All you've done is make people more risk-averse. Edit: To the mod who deleted my snarky comment about the intellectual capabilities of the developers. Fair enough, I understand everyone wants respect. However, I hope you would also understand that if it takes me or any other player about five seconds to blow big, gaping holes in a major game design decision and the reasoning behind them, that perhaps a little snark is warranted. If you don't want to be asked if you've given any thought to the consequences of your game design, don't implement changes where the negative consequences of said game design are immediately evident to the players and the reasoning behind that game design can be addressed in a much simpler, more obvious way with fewer consequences. Im in a clan of 4 and play either solo or with 1 of them and im not sure how not capping negitively effects me.

Mrdoomed Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 All these people unhappy NOW cuz they cant cap but im still looking to see if now we can attack next to enemy capitals without fear of being jumped by a bunch of ships?
Mrdoomed Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 1. You're going to hit Flag Captain rank pretty soon, if you haven't already. That's where the XP/gold grind gets easier. However, for it to get easier, you need a 3rd rate. Which will be expensive as all hell with these changes. Also, people will go around ganking 3rd rates doing missions like they're Victories, because 3rd rates will now be hard to get. 2. Want to engage in port battles? Too bad! 3. Want an exceptional Renommee, Surprise, or Trinc? Too bad - vendor trash for you! The crafters are making 3rd rates+ or components for them, because why waste hours on ships that they won't be making money on. I make my own mc ships in the list you mentioned and have no interest in a 3rd rate although i DO ADMIT when doing the few pb i do i prefere speed not bulk. If what you say is going to happens , wont most people be in the same boat ( pun intended ) ? Wont we just see more smaller frigate , corsair sized ships and start to be more historicaly correct which should make so many historian gamers here happy ? You might be right. Im gonna see how it goes. Im guessing if we all have the same rules it will balance out.

You do know you can attack other real players and take their gold live oak/speed versions too, right?!? What do say we give it a shot before going all doom and gloom? 2
Garbol Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I recently reached 25lvl in crafting, can't remember when was the last time I capped AI ship. I'm in a clan of 6-8 players (all of them my friends). So I dedicated myself to crafting ships/upgrades and my friends just gather silver for me (so they sell the exces silver and I get to make crafting notes win/win). This patch dosen't affect me much but I will say this. The only thing that is disturbing for me is the fact that there is nothing adressing labour hours, right now it takes about 3-2 irl days(?) for me to craft exep. Surprise.
