Ahoy skippers,

I've had the following issue that I didn't like, I was playing on the Vereningde Provincien side and my friends where on the British side, so after a week of trying to get some grip on the game I decided to delete the current game, start over again and join my friends on the British side.

After deleting the current game and starting a new game I was expecting to start all over again, but no. My battle rank is still there and also my crafting rank is the same, well thanks that's nice.

However I did go to 0 gold and to my surprise the outpost buying for my first outpost was 50.000 gold, now my friends help me so I'm slowly starting to get up again.

But it does create a strange situation, your are back in a basic cutter with 0 gold, no upgrades but do get missions that are a little over size for a basic cutter, and the high price for an outpost doesn't make it simple to get the game going again. Is this a bug or is it intended to work this way?, if so it's a game breaking point for me because starting over again will bring you to a point that it's gone take weeks before you're back at a level that you can play the game normal again, a ship that will fit the missions you get and enough gold to buy a outpost if needed.

Can someone shine some light on this issue?

Your xp and crafting xp is saved over evey character, whatever nation, if you delete a characterOn the other hand, you lose all gold, ships, etc. This is what is intended.

This may, as you said, cause problems when you are fighting against higher missions. I would recommend that you play with your friends, so they can help you in your missions, and make them help you capture a boat that is closer to your rank, as you already now have the rank  to use it.

You should have transfered your gold and ships to your friends on the british side. Once you switched over you could get the gold and ships back.

Ok, that's nice, but the point of 0 gold and buying your first outpost for 50.000 gold is just game breaking.

Also if I like to do this again you could end up with 0 gold and need 1 million gold for your first outpost.

that's not joyful any more than.

Is there a way to do a complete reset, I don't mind going all the way back to zero as long as there is a balance, and that's missing on the moment.

I did also us the ingame F11 key for this issue, hope that's ok.

Thanks for the answer so far.

Then I would rather recommend to wait to buy a new outpost, and rather grind or trade until you have sufficient funds.

If you think this should be changed, I would recommend posting a proposal on the suggestions page. I think however devs have been clear that only xp shall be shared between characters, and so it will remain.

I have been playing NA for about three weeks, and having made so many mistakes in the first week (exploring the game) I too came across this issue and was frustrated by it. Having got past that now, I can — sort of — understand why the game has been written his way, however it does raise the question what do you do and where do you go when you are Admiral of the Fleet. Having paid a fee for the game (albeit a very reasonable one) you should be permitted to play it again from scratch, somehow, in my view. Perhaps this could be addressed at some stage? I would welcome thoughts & opinions on this.

I think this could be easily done,

1 - change side and keep XP, but loose ships, gold and warehouses.

2 - delete all and start from scratch.

in the game start menu for account.

This will also make more sense to players who don't go true all the game play rules, and don't understands how all works.

Captains, the most time sinking features - rank and craft experience has been linked to Steam Account since patch 9.64 thus a player could change a nation without going through all the grinding once again (stuff still can be traded in Free Ports to your friends). In the same time, it is expected that a player have learnt the ropes and is able to gain some cash through OW hunting or at least playing with friends.

Still, one time account experience wipe is possible, you need to provide character name by the ingame mail system to character Ink. Go to friendlist, click on "Find" tab and find my character there, right click and "Mail". Please, remember, that if you change your mind after a while, it will not be possible to recover it back.
