Capping a port solo?

Just curious if it's been done, and what was used if it has. Shallow water ports only as I don't think it's possible deep water.

I would like to know this too or what would be smallest and fewest ships to take a deep water port.

I bet it is possible now.  Before the issue was the 42lbers.  Now that isn't the case anymore.

Ive thought about this before as we can do it with just 3 guys right now in our 3rd rates but we still lose lots of crew doing it.   and it will all change once they add the update for port battles.

1 solid built and upgraded Navy Brig can do it and survive comfortably in a shallow.

 

In a Deep one... can be done for sure the same way although I like the boarding option best.

One guy on reddit says he solo'ed a deep water port using a Pavel..... Video is supposed to be up soon. He had a Surprise with him filming but not actively participating.

Have yet to finish it solo though but was possible to tank 2 towers while going in abeam, roughly 11.2 knt on a live oak planking build. Last tower it focused some snows, put two running for their lives. Crew loss was the worst of it all, quite nasty, not the timbers getting shattered. But was before the patch so have yet to retry.

 

On that maybe the big ships of the line gain something for having multiple decks and crew more spread out ?

 

Still it is a bit silly to go with 1 ship.
