Yeah so 2 pirates came down to haiti to look for PVP and when people turned up to attack them they decided to attack each other to avoid combat, they did this over and over again and just now they left the game... this is a clear exploit of the game, this needs to be fixed.

The 2 GUN members are the pirates, we joined to take a picture and have a word with them.

Really? All these ships for 2 poor pirates? :)

Did they do any damage farming? Even if they tag each other you still can sink one and after that another.

maybe they was just testing they ships for speed? pirates does that a lot. Unless its against the rules to even tag each other for pirates.

They tagged each other about 4 times to avoid combat. There was 5 pirates total and they split up

Sorry lads i know its not a place for jokes but i just in a good mood.. :)

I will leave it up to mods anyway now.

PS i still think that if they not damage farming there is no rules against tagging each other. Unless im wrong.

Just because there is no stated rule again using a mechanic in the complete opposite of it's intent doesn't make it right.

Illegal? No. Something that should be addressed? Yes.

don't chase pirates?

wooooow great idea man, that makes the PVP even better for everyone involved because we should not chase pirates because they can abuse a broken system, don't comment without a good reason please.

I tho pirates don't get exp for attacking each other?

That's not the point i am making mate, if you read what I was saying i said they are abusing/exploiting the fact they can attack each other to avoid combat, not to get xp from each other. read.

This is not an exploit, and if you request this to be taken away then Pirates will lose their uniqueness. I quite like being a Pirate. I would like to hear some suggestions on how to fix this that don't sound a lot like: "Don't let Pirates attack each other, its not fair!"

Erm.

As usual everyone seems to be trying to put blame on the Pirates for this. Quite frankly it is starting to get humerous.

I have seen National players abusing the system in very similar ways so perhaps its time to get down off your high horse and we can come to a reasonable solution?

What stops National players from also doing this? As far as I am aware if neither of the attacks each other neither will turn Pirate?

Posted

Well it was pirates, so why not blame them?

Blaming an entire Nation on the actions of a few is narrow minded. Especially since this is also done by other Nations. How about we find a solution rather than pointing the finger?

uuuuuuummm please tell me how other nations can also abuse this system? cause from what I know if we attack each other we turn pirate...

the thing is pirates are not that unique as you would think they are, want to know what makes them different than other nations? 2 things, can attack each other and can't enter neutral ports.... THAT IS IT, they are just another nation and it's completely broken... pirates can even call reinforcements hahahaha.

Sooo... They are unique and you'd like to take away part of that uniqueness. Ok, so aside from taking away something that isn't an exploit if used properly, how do you propose to fix this?

I don't see this as a problem, I'm sorry your gank didn't work out...

It cannot be done by other nations, at all without them turning pirate.

As far as I am aware you become a Pirate when you do over a damage threshold to a friendly player?

Also this can easily be done by pulling in your enemy at maximum range so that they can never catch you in the battle. If someone does not want to be caught with the current mechanics they can always use them to get away.

mate if you look at my original post it's about pirates able to attack each other over and over to avoid combat, you are complaining that other nations can do that but that is simply not true.

I think you have me wrong. I am not complaining at all. I am attempting to understand the issue so that a resolution can be suggested rather than just pointing fingers.

The current tagging mechanism is open to various amounts of abuse and could use a revamp at some point.

Having said that the players above have not broken any rules as far as I can tell. You are able to join them in battle and you could have attempted to sink them then.

The issue is wider than a few Pirate players doing this and DOES pass over to other Nations. Now that we know that what would be a good suggestion for a fix?

If they are attacking each other just to avoid combat from others then i think its an exploit.  but on the other hand you were able to mak it in the battle so it didn't help them.

I really don't see the problem, sink the lone guy on the other side while his friend watches.

Once he's sunk, chase down the other one.

All this does is isolate a single pirate onto one side all on his lonesome.

The National issue doesn't exist. If a national player attacks a player of the same nation, the moment the battle starts, the attacker becomes a pirate. The only faction that can attack each other and accomplish the result that the OP is complaining about are Pirates.

All this does is isolate a single pirate onto one side all on his lonesome.

Except they will tag eachother such that the guy on the other side is guaranteed to escape, and then just sit in the end battle screen.

Solution: when a pirate attacks another pirate, set them as "hostile" to each other, preventing them from grouping or joining a battle on the same side for a long cooldown period. If both are in same clan, attacker is automatically removed from the clan and set hostile to all clan members for duration of cooldown period.

Ability to attack each other should be used in earnest for "gang wars" and real conflict amongst pirates, not exploited as a handy get out of jail free card or friendly battle / training option (at least as long as the latter is denied to other nations).

A more elegant solution may be to allow more than two sides per battle.  That way, if you wish to participate in a battle but do not wish to join either side, you can go in and fight both sides.
