New Player; game is too easy

Hi,

First of all, bravo on the game, I do enjoy it, but as usual, with any game I play, the AI is always too easy to beat. What attracted me to the game washow the trailer explained the AI (gameplay trailer of 20 minutes or so) im not disapointed because I learn overtime that all games are like this (I like the AI in Men of War assault squad, now, THATS a difficult AI )

So thats my main problem, apart from others that I already read on other topics (such as the Cannon problem and LOS )

I pass the game beating the Union in a couple of battles in my 3rd playtime. I have to leave the AI chances or else I never see day 2, in fact, I never got to day 3 or 4. So, thats about it, other than that, very fun, special game. I love the idea, I do love how you choose your difficulty and where its going. Sound is great, and well there is things missing but the game is not finish so I wont complaint here, I didnt see any bug so far ( played about 6 time )

I have found the real challenge is not beating the game. I can do it on hardest difficulty before end of second day, It's even faster to beat as Union than Confederate. But hardest part is trying to unlock all the different scenario's.

Welcome to the game and our forums!
By the time of your post I assume that you played old version 0.82 because new patch 0.83 came last night. 
If my speculation is correct, can you please try some more battles with 0.83 with the same AI and tactics you used. Is it now harder?

R.E.B Blunt : Yeah thats right, unlocking scenario, didnt think of this yet

 

Nick : I played only a bit this morning after the patch, to show my wife about it ( she didnt care, as with all games that isnt called : The Sims.. )  and I did notice a changed in the AI.... Im going to get right on testing starting now ! Will come back with my opinion.

Wow, the AI is great ! Im having much more difficulty advancing, and keeping ground. Very nice work. I feel more as if I was playing against someone with a brain. ( Im glad I bought the game at patch 0.83 hehe ) So...

 

Conclusion ( I play with the Determined AI):

 

Smarter AI ; -Its now more difficult to flank and take them by surprise.

                    -Really use the advantage that comes up from time to time by charging

                    - Sometimes retreat to better ground to defend while trying to outflank me on the far right/left

Tougher AI : -Its now harder to advance trough lines of infantry.

                    - Hanging in tight groups of Cannon and Infantry making it hard to advance.

 

(3 points per stats, stats based on Determined AI description )

 

Quick : Quickly adapt to the battlefield, true (2) (

Powerful attack to specific weak points: true  ( but I have yet to try to play defensive with the Union) (2)

Effectiveness, true, they defend their point with effective force and maneuvers. although not impossible to dislodge with patience (1)

Persistence: true, they are holding pretty damn good. ( 2)

Difficult to outmaneuver : extremely true and hard to maneuver around the enemy ( 3)

Tip: keep your force together : True, impossible to advance with lone unit ( 3 )

 

I give the final note of patch 0.83 concerning  Determined AI difficulty of : 13/18. ``Challenging Game``

 

( 15 being ``Almost impossible to win`` and 18 being ``playing against a real army general``)

 

Since I play an army that is attacking, I cant see all the side, later on tonight I will try the Union and see how the AI attacks and grab objectives.

Thanks so much for that update it really makes it all way better and harder

 

Edit : I won the campaign on Day 3, with an Epic Victory. but I fought hard and didnt give them any chance haha.
