Jesters-Ink Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Due to internet drop, a bit harsh, can this be fixed? I have a vid of it too.
OlavDeng2 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Current policy is no replenishing of Ship durability as it would be a lot of work for the devs if everyone were to start requesting it. 2
Jesters-Ink Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) Yeah I don't expect that, but it needs fixing at the base, if you get a drop, no insta kill. The last time it happened, I managed to get back in really quick and finished the fight. This time the wife was on the phone to the internet provider and they did a rest Edited March 13, 2016 by Long Beard Ink
Ratline Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 How would the game determine whether you lost connection for real, or whether you killed it to avoid ship loss? The last thing this game needs is combat logging. 1
Justme Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 This is why all ships need to be 1 dura lol. I could just see the developers get swamped every time someone losses a ship. I didn't lose it was a connection loss.
Jesters-Ink Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Way to get the wrong end of the post. I'm not asking for my ship back, I was asking for some sort of bailout if I had a net drop. I have a video of the fight, there was no logout.
Long Beard Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I made a suggestion in another thread that it would be better if your ship held current course and speed if player loses connection. Then there's maybe 5 mins to get back in before the ship stops. During the DC, players could still engage your ghost ship, but at least it will buy you time to get your DC sorted and back in to the game.
Jesters-Ink Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 And that Sir sounds like a very good idea. Did you get any reaction to it?
Admiral 8Q Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) I thought your ship disappears 2 minutes after the idleness warning kicks in? Edited March 19, 2016 by Admiral 8Q
Long Beard Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I thought your ship disappears 2 minutes after the idleness warning kicks in? Out of curiosity, I'd love to see your vid. After a DC in battle, I'm told your ship automatically stops and surrenders instantly thus losing you a dura.
Long Beard Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Nice name sir, how did you come up with that one?
Jesters-Ink Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 All of the black ones were taken lol, nah it was just a pick n mix. Now I know there is a "Long Beard" I will pick something else when the game goes live.
Jesters-Ink Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 I thought your ship disappears 2 minutes after the idleness warning kicks in? Out of curiosity, I'd love to see your vid. Had another drop tonight, but wasn't recording this one, lucky for me I got back in quick and finished the fight. Was a bit miffed off though, there was a fair amount of damage done whilst the Captain was away from his ship I think this time it was steam, as in if steam reboots, it chucks you out of game. If it starts getting regular, I'd be asking to run the game out side of steam as an option.
Ahoy H.R. Matey Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 It should be handled like Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen handle it. In ED: lose a ship, pay a fraction of cost to get it back. No money? Lose the ship forever. In Star Citizen: pay insurance regularly just like real life. Lose a ship, get it back and premiums go up for a bit. No money for insurance? You aren't covered anymore until you pay up. Insurance was already "a thing" in the Age of Sail, no reason not to have it in game.
Rosebud Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Your ship my friend, was lost in a storm...some areas are more prone to storms then others. Your house unfortunately is one of those areas. (At least that is the attitude I take...it helps me, maybe it will help others.) 1
Tindahbawx Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Suck it up and chalk it up to excessive woodworm. 1
Admiral 8Q Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I know it sucks to lose a dura from losing the internet connection. The likely reason that you don't just log out when it happens, but actually take a hit is because alot of people would pull the plug if they're losing and instead of losing the ship, disappear and then blame it on an internet drop.
Jesters-Ink Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 Yeah I'm over it now, had it happen another 3 times since, but each time I've managed to get back in and finish the job, not too bad. So thanks guys, I guess its that honeymoon period where the first time is a bit of a shocker. 1
