sacapus Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I noticed that 90% of the time, there is more cargo (Quantity and Quality) on a cutter or a lynx trader than on a Snow Trader, this is strange, shouldn't it be more logical to expect more cargo on a bigger trader ship then on a smaller one ? Also, why is France nation traders for example are not carrying France commodities, it will make the game a lot more intrusive if you're looking for a specific commodity to search for a France trader if you're looking for French Wine or for a American trader if you're looking for American Cotton. Is there a reason for this or is it a bug ? 2
Macjimm Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Good question. Can anyone who knows of a link where the devs have addressed this please post it. Also do the nationalities of ships have any relationship to the nationalities of the ports they visit?
Leviathan Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Currently you cannot obtain national resources (American cotton, French wine, etc) from loot drops. Those resources are only available in certain ports in that nations area, however I think it would be a good idea if those resources did drop from nation specific traders. In general I think the loot from traders varies randomly but I don't capture many of them myself. I have had some nice drops from Snows though. 1
Blood Eagle Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 national resources are the dumbest thing in the game. You can only trade in your own nations resources unless you get some from another player on a different nation.
Pigafetta Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 True that... in another post I wrote about my experience with national goods. "I thought to bring some American Cotton to La Mona. There I found a nice couple of Danish players (Wilfred Woulf and Xzeus)... we chatted a bit discussing the game and had fun. We exchanged my American Cotton with their Danish Beer. To be fair (I told them upfront that I was buying the Cotton at 36 gold per Ton) we decided on a 3:1 ratio. Well guess what! Went back to Charleston (and several other cities) and I could only sell the Beer for 135 gold. Which means... after all the troubles and time spend on this, my net gain was around 14,000. Get even worst. I am still in touch with the Danish players and Woulf told me that he could sell the Cotton only for 15 - 45 gold a piece. Ok, I will put it under contract. Again, Guess what!! It is not possible to do it!!!" Something has to be done to make national products useful in some way...
VonVolks Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I'm sure this is just a place holder at the moment for future use, like "send to admiralty" option or ships report letter....
Yar987 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 (edited) I'm sure this is just a place holder at the moment for future use, like "send to admiralty" option or ships report letter.... Yep, it's hardly fleshed out. The only resources that had much thought put into them were ones required to build ships, and that was only to make sure each nation had them close to their capital. That's also a placeholder, it is probably going to change. Freeports could be more important for buying/selling national resources, and could be a great way to make gold. Capt. Rice Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 national resources are the dumbest thing in the game. You can only trade in your own nations resources unless you get some from another player on a different nation. i think it was designed that way to encourage trading at other nations. upgrades require other nation goods to be built.
Admiral 8Q Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 national resources are the dumbest thing in the game. You can only trade in your own nations resources unless you get some from another player on a different nation. Actually that's not always the case. You can get nation specific resources at neutral ports.
