Devs, please make boarded IA ships invulnerable against shots of players different from the boarding one.

It has become almost impossible to board in groups: when one boards, the others keep firing for XP and sink the ship wasting the bordage. This is claarty unfair, because the one who boarded (and made a lot of "work") just ends providing an easy target for the other ones and - at the end - gets no reward. To avoid this, just make that a boarded ship cannot be damaged by other players than the boarding one.

It's not fair either that the person who boards the ship gets all the reward while everyone else gets shafted if they hold their fire.

What the game needs is an implementation of Prize Law, because it was actually completely illegal to keep ships for yourself after capturing them back then. You had to take them before a prize court and get an adjudication of whether you took them fairly, who deserved money for the capture, and what they were worth.

c'mon Mr Prize court, get back to the real game: in order to board you have to get close, reduce the ship's armors, grape twice or more (and graping damage does not grant XP or gold), outmanouver the enemy ship into the wind, while you take heavy and close quarter damage (so that means bigger repair bills). Put on top of that that If you board a heavily damaged ship, you will get almost nothing unless you repair it and that I still have to see a loot from a trader that is worth more than a couple of thousands of gold.

Boarding needs always much more effort (and expenses) than just boom boom from afar.

So what? You think because you decide over everyone else's head to go for the capture they should just stop playing and leave you to it? For that matter, what if someone else is also trying to capture?

Perhaps not so deep as this, but perhaps one who captures gets a little less bounty.  Or the loot onboard is rolled for, with higher chances to those who've contributed more (think WoW group loot mechanics).

But I do agree that boarding a ship can screw the other players in certain circumstances.

And it's not at all possible that other players help you to get close enough to board?  Also, if it's a trader you're boarding then you haven't taken all that much damage in order to get close and board (if you're smart).  And you can ask your fleet mates to switch to grape in order to help you out instead of damaging the ship further.  Additionally, since this game is attempting to be relatively historical, then Aetrion, 'Mr. Prize Court,' is quite right.

Not a bad idea, though I could see some cargo going to waste if people don't have the option to take a trading vessel for the necessary cargo space to get it back to port.  I'm sure something could be worked out though.
