TJStonewallJackson Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Well, at first I could go into the game and see the main menu. I tried clicking things, and it would take me back to my desktop saying Ultimate General Gettysburg.exe has stopped working. Now, I open the game, and usually a white screen comes up, but also the main menu will come up and then I get this in a pop up box from the game: "The game crashed. The crash report folder named "2014-06-27_201926" next to game executable. It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!"What is this, and how can I fix this? I've been waiting to play this for a LONG TIME. Got it downloaded, and have been trying to fix this. IDK what to do. Someone please help me :'( My laptop meets the game requirements, so it is NOT a hardware problem. It might be a download problem, but IDK.
TJStonewallJackson Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Well, I re installed the game, had high hopes that it was an installation error, but no. I opened the game through the Steam Library, and as soon as it got to the main menu, a Windows pop-up says that "Ultimate General Gettysburg.exe has stopped working." I saw this game when it was announced, thought it looked pretty good, So, I got some money on Steam yesterday, bought Ultimate General: Gettysburg, and some DLC for a different game. I have emailed the support team with the files that were requested, and have not gotten any reply on what to do, or anything.
DocSky Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I'm in the same boat, same issues, i emailed the team with the required info as well, still no responce.
TJStonewallJackson Posted June 29, 2014 Author Posted June 29, 2014 Other than this problem, I think I would be okay. I'll try to be as patient as I can till I get a response from either on here or in my email.
Husserl Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Hi TJStonewallJckson. We are very sorry for your problem. Though CTD errors were limited after last patch, it seems we have not eliminated them completely. It is still in highest priority for the next patch. Does crash what ever you click on menu? Can you get in video options and change screen resolution? If you can, please try to see if in a lower resolution the game will run.
TJStonewallJackson Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 I have not tried recently, but the last time that I attempted to go into the game, The Ultimate General Gettysburg logo, and the Unity logo would appear as if the game was working correctly, but as soon as I get to the main menu screen, the window that the game is running in turns a grayish white color, and I get the "Ultimate General Gettysburg.exe has stopped working." pop up. Then I have no choice but to click end program and go back to my desktop. I cannot go into the options and change anything. The game crashes as soon as it gets to the main menu. TJStonewallJackson
Husserl Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Please check our thread and Common technical problems and solutions . After you are sure that you have the latest VGA drivers installed and the problem is still there, attach here the output_log.txt and if possible the dxdiag.txt (see there where you can find them).
TJStonewallJackson Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 I have been trying to install new, up to date drivers. I currently tried to update my DirectX driver, but after the install was finished it told me that there was no need for thie installation, since it was already up to date. And the graphics card driver updates I attempted to install yesterday all ended in an Error, and said that my computer did not meet the minimum requirements for the install. I know that's not true, because this system is relativley new (Less than a year) and It's specs are OK for gaming. If you would like to see my system specs, I'll be glad to show you. sterner Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Hi, sorry for question, but have you sent dxdiag to us (support@game-labs.net)? It will help us to understand a source of the problem.
Nick Thomadis Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Please check this hotfix we offered before some hours: http://steamcommunity.com/games/306660/announcements/detail/1299602418108190020 Hope it fixes the problem.
TJStonewallJackson Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 @ Sterner - Yes, I did send something like that to the support team. I was told to update my Video Card driver, but every time I try to, I get an error saying that my Computer does not meet the minimum requirements for the update, which is false, because I've had this computer for less than a year. Would you recommend that I send those again? TJStonewallJackson
sterner Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Hi again As I understood, alternative render have solved your problem. You can play now. The render is not final and has known issues. But better to play with problems, then having nothing. Good to know that you are able to run the game.
TJStonewallJackson Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Yes, the renderer has let me to be able to play the game.
