I would like the stern to be the weak side again. It is not so now. ow the sides are the weak side,

Hoistorically the stern was the wek side. The stern was weak but hard to hit (but the bowspit often was destroyed) and the SIDES was the strongest part of the ship.

I would like to suggest that the stern is BEEFED up a bit with a HP increase. But that ship can take leaks and sink when the stern is totally raked too.

Stern is hard to hit. You need to get in position and time the rolling fire.

Given the HP meter is about structural strength and not about wood falling off I think it is quite on the spot.

Remember the inside of the ship is modeled as well with the open galleries broken ( or not ) in sections. That adds also some degree of protection from rake shots bouncing along the entire length.

Also, make the bow vulnerable as well ! I tank with the bow, as it is harder to get hit, and because it doesn't provoke any serious damage on the long term.

I'm not sure ships were tanking with the bow back then.

I don't want ships to sink just because they lost stern planking. But it's time to buff gun loss when hit through zero-planking arcs again. And I mean automatic gun loss, not hitbox dependent.

As for bow tanking, it would help if collision and bow leaks were sometimes irreparable, with crew only able to diminish the flow of incoming water. This makes sense for large areas damaged by collisions, and for shot-holes in the complex bow timbers.

The bow took more due to its rounded form. More bullets bounced off.

We should increase the HP of the stern so it is not entirely destroyed in the first round of fire. But make it a major weakpoint. Which it was in real battles. Even when hit at a slight angle it was devastating. So you hac to protect your stern.
