"Wat nu.. zei Pietje Gru, kan niet verdomme zei Bernadotte", maining "what now.. Pierre Gru said, don't care a damn of it, Bernadotte said". Its a Dutch saying for when people are placed in a unpleasant situation and thinking how to react.

This saying goes back to the winter of 1794-1795. Due the very harsh winter conditions the major Dutch rivers became frosen. That situation was used by a French army, lead by Pichegru being supported by so named Dutch patriots the anti Orangists party, to destroy the Republic of the United Provinces from the south.

The other guy, Jean Bernadotte was French by birth and served a long carrier in the French army. Finally he was appointed as a marshal of France by Napoleon. May-be this explains somewhat of the subborn Swedish loyalty to the French we have seen in the game so far ;)

Bernadotte is an opportunist. What now.. Pierre Gru said, after Paritu was retaken by the Dutch fleet under command of captain Bubbles. Don't care a damn of our Franco-Dutch war. I don't serve the Dutch Orange party, nor the pro French Dutch Patriots or the Danes. Finally I will also not support the French, Bernadotte said. One day I shall be king of Sweden!

Bernadotte's egocentric behaviour, his influence in the Swedish Caribbean too, to get the maximum out of everything for himself, explains may-be the remarkable pro French attitude of Sweden so far.

Mainwhile is the situation for the United Provinces hopeless, better said.. the old famous Dutch republic don't exist anymore in the European part of our nation. Some weeks ago on January 19th, 1795 the new Batavian Republic was proclaimed, being a puppet state for the French. Is every thing lost? Here in the Caribbean the war against the French and the treators of the Patriot party shall continue. The remains of our proud Republic of the United provinces still exist here. One day, after we have destroyed the French and the Swedes here, we shall sail to our good old home nation, to kick out the French there too. Long live our prince and our Orangist party, Oranje boven!
