I love this little boat. Its a one off so Im not sure if I can get them to hand over the plans for it or if they have rights to it. Either way I know where its at and can get to it by plane for free and armed with a camera and a tape measure there is nothing that can get in my way. :P

I know very little about the boat as I just saw it for the first time the other day at Baltimore airport. Its called the Maryland Federalist and was made to commemorate the anniversary of Maryland's ratifying the Constitution I believe. It is a replica of a ship/boat that was made and given to George Washington to celebrate the Constitution but was destroyed 6 weeks after he got it in a hurricane. Plenty of info online about it.

Its 15 feet long.

I've studied some pictures that are on my iphone and it dosn't look like there are any lines to clew up the sails yet there are ties up at the top to do it. The spanker looks as if it has a line attached to the rear of the sail in order to pull it in. You could take in the mainsails just by standing up but the topsails... who knows. Maybe its set up to drop the foresail mast to drop down in order to tie it up.

That is just a hilarious boat. And I'm sure it would be loads of fun to play with, trying different evolutions and rig balance. I would be a real sailor by now if marconi sloops could make me feel more of a connection to the old ships.

Oh, so she's on display in the airport terminal now. It appears that the topsails don't have braces or anything besides a sheet. And yet for some reason the crossjack has a topping lift rigged. :P

It looked like it could seat two comfortably and was rigged to be single handed.

From what I've read she stays on display at the Baltimore airport and the state house. Right now its at BWI.
