In PVE, don't allow another player from your nation to board a ship if you started the battle.

So I've noticed a new thing happening on PVE server now. You can be working on capping a trade ship and have a player from your own nation join the battle and cap the ship you were after. They come in smaller more agile ships and wait until you've used grape shot enough that they can defeat the crew then sneak in while you're turning etc and cap the ship. In PVP I would just shoot them and deal with the consequences, but on PVE this should not be allowed when they can "grief" and steal like this with no repercussions.

 

Grinding missions is boring enough and now trying to change it up here and there with capping trade ships is frustrating due to thieves.

More of the issue that they do not want the servers to have separate rules (PVE and PVP) so pve players are stuck dealing with bad rules (for us pve players).

 

Fix is easy IF they have separate rules...but they do not,  so not so easy.

 

You need to hit P to screen shot people that do this and then post into the tribunal, and hope that they will do anything to these type players. Kind of doubtful...i posted basically the same situation and nothing gets done.

PVP rules on a PVE server is a terrible decision. Especialy in situations like this, there is nothing you can do to retaliate when somebody from your own nation can come in and grief you in multiple ways and in the end leave you with repair costs etc while they come out on top with little effort.

Yes, this.

 

People choose PVE over PVP for many reasons. Some even play both. Whatever their reasons are they have chosen PVE... because they don't want to play or fight against other players. Here we have a situation where PVP can be forced on them, even if it is one sided and nothing more than griefing. They have paid to play PVE so there needs to be a mechanism that allows them this choice in all situations.

Why not make it so whoever started the battle gets the ship.

 

So if someone else joins, boards and captures the ship it still ends up in the loot window for the guy who started the battle.

 

That way, if someone tries to steal a trader they actually end up doing your job for you.

 

That would teach them :)

I'm not sure if that would even work. Had a friend working on capping a trader today, he got up beside to board it before the other two that joined in his battle instance. One did some attempted ramming to move and gave up to join the other player in just attacking the trader ship trying to sink it on him.
