JohnFreeman Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 I've been using a Snow for a while now, long cannons on the sides, cannonades at the front and back and i quite enjoyed it, levelled up to Lieutenant and now im trying to decide whether i should get a Navy Brig, a Mercury or stick with the Snow?
Ronda Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Stick with the Snow. Merc and Navy are same class and less cannons.
prreich1 Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 I have both a snow and a mercury. Based on my own playing style, I still prefer the snow, even though the mercury is arguably a better ship. Basically, it comes down to how you play the game. If you participate mostly in line battles, the mercury is a better broadside ship, but the snow with its chasers really help when chasing merchants. A navy brig is kind of an in between, but I would still stick with the snow. Oh, and I forgot to mention, I have long 6s on the broadsides and longs for the chasers. While I find that carronades do a bit more damage close in, their range is abysmal, and chasing traders it helps to have range to chain them.
BallsOfSteel Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Snow here as well though just bought a mercury for $46K which was only $26K after selling the pickle i was in and put the big cannonades on, its a fast ship so getting close and with 24lbs should do some massive damage, Hoping to be 1ST LEUT tonight and then take the Niagara out with 32lb carronades sitting in her good to go.
Meraun Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Stick with the Snow. Merc and Navy are same class and less cannons. Mercury with live oak and extra Planking is much better than a Snow. More HP, bigger guns
Kookaburra Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm having fun with the Navy Brig. Sure it can't hold as much cannons as the Snow, but it really can take a beating.
diomedesbc Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Just reached 1st Lieutenant and facing the same question. Might take out my Niagara as well. Or even try them all!
