Sir Nukem Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) I'm not sure how to get this system to work better, I'm not an mmo economy expert. But, the fact that a product is produced by a harbor, in this case, Fir Logs or Stone blocks (for around 40-80 and 11-15 gold respectively), and are both needed in Every ship build, and are each bought completely out of every harbor (I've personally checked 12 every time), and if your are "lucky" they are put back on sale for 200-500 gold a piece..... That system in play seams broken. The fact that 1 player (not saying there is only one), with a hundred thousand (very easy to get with missions paying out 11-20k a piece now) can buy ALL of a base material to crafts ships, affecting 900+ people..... Something I feel needs to change. Maybe Ports/Harbors can have Infinite Resources, it's just the price goes up when players buy, but goes back down as the Port produces or players sell to Port. jodgi Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I feel for you. If I wasn't "forced" to grind the crafting ranks, I wouldn't mind a cutthroat eco so much. If I could just make the ships I wanted with the materials I was able to find or outbid to get, it wouldn't be so frustrating. Gotta keep those labor hours hot. It makes the eco/crafting a painful experience.
jodgi Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 It's not realistic to wish for unlimited resources.
RedTeamSpy Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 The current production system is a place holder, 'Soon' it will be removed and all production resources will be player created. Its the reason why the massive swings in resource amounts as the devs are trying to find the correct levels for the production buildings once they come in. Also its probably the reason for the massive increase in mission gold as when the new system comes in they will probably do a resource wipe in order to get data on it from a blank slate, so they are probably trying to get data on mission gold before all gold gets wiped. See this post where the dev's explain the current swings - http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/10200-hotfixes-for-several-annoying-issues/page-8#entry181522
Thymoral Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I can't wait for the economy to be revamped. I am stationed out of Cabo Canaveral on PvP 2 and over the last two days I visited every single Fir port along the Florida coast and in the Bahamas looking for Fir. This journey took probably 6 hours of my time and I found ZERO fir. I finally got back to Cabo to find that someone was selling it to crafters there for 500. 500!!!!!! I literally cannot craft ships because of the lack of a single item. If I do buy the fir for 500, I will never make a profit. This is ridiculous.
Sir Nukem Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the thread link RedTeamSpy, that's helps a lot to know, it's also a much better reason than "It's not realistic" (as Jodgi said). To which I'll reply, this is a game, not real life. And if you want it realistic, than they should make it take weeks to months to travel these routes, as it REALLY was, and your crew should die the longer you spend out on the open water...since that's what really happened. It's not "realistic" to spend 40 or 500 gold on a log, nor several other concepts in this game. You have no argument against it. Even the devs believe the resources as they currently are are unacceptable and serving as a place holder as the posted thread from Spy said. Stop defending it. Edited February 11, 2016 by Sir Nukem
