Good to see the old Squadron at sea in the Caribbean once more! Not sure how many of you fellows remember me from PotBS, just wanted to let you know that I'm in the region also.

 

To be fair, however, current situations ashore mean I spend a lot of my time in port and much of my active time is spent overseeing the construction of vessels to be sold from my yard as well as testing a number of ships and compiling data and statistics on them.

 

So, in short, although I'm not as active as I was in PotBS, I'm still here and am very happy to see SGS in Naval Action!

 

Will Collister is my name in game, and I would be most happy to get in touch again!

All Captains are Welcome to Join our Squadron!

Do not be afraid of the naming policy it is easily sorted.

 

We try to shine amongst other clans by our gentlemen style rules, respect to others and honor code.

 

We are already 30 strong and have very nice and warm atmosphere. Help is offered for anyone who it requires.

 

We do not require you to be harcore or online most of the day, we have system where you need to be active in our forums only once a month AFTER you have passed Patronage period. We also have our own wiki that is almost its own game universe already!

 

This is great clan for those who are taking it easy on the alpha and just love to explore different areas of the game!

Lord Nathaniel Blatchford

During the month of August Lord Nathaniel Blatchford has constantly put his life, his ship, and his crew on the line in the pursuit of duty in the West indies off the south western side of Cuba. He is a continual thorn in the side of the Spanish interest and trade in the area with taking a prize several Spanish warships and many merchants in the area around Barcos. He continually holds himself to the highest example of what a fighting captain of The Squadron should be.

Dame Ashleigh Bagster

During the month of August Dame Ashleigh Bagster tirelessly updated and added to the wiki, ensuring that new and potential members are met with a professional-looking first impression. Her work on coding will also no doubt be of great value to the Squadron in the times ahead.

Sir James Thomson

August 13th, Captain Sir James Thomson's conduct during said actions were of an entirely professional and expert nature. The skill required to escape an enemy frigate squadron of superior force by sailing through them, and the quality gunnery and seamanship displayed during the fight against an enemy 30-gun frigate.

Mr. Grafton Sutherland

August 7th, Showing great initiative and a sense of urgency Mr. Sutherland took it upon himself to preform a needed and perilous reconnaissance tour around the whole of enemy controlled Cuba. To which he provided the His Majesty's Navy with much needed information on the trading habits and Military deployments of the Spanish.

In the months following her pivotal role in re-establishing the Squadron in the current Caribbean conflict, Dame Ashleigh Bagster, 1st Btss., has steadily contributed to the Squadron's presentation and demanding paperwork. Adjusting the systems and framework of the old Squadron to the new was no easy task, and Dame Ashleigh's hard work and coordination were decisive to the result we have today.

I believe it is high time that she is lifted to peerage for her efforts, and ask the Board to recommend her, through the proper channels, to be made a Baroness by the Crown.

Captain Sir James Thomson has, in the time after he helped re-establish the Squadron several months ago, steadily spent time and effort in recruiting new captains and helping them during their patronage periods. He has also expressed his opinions on matters outside his office, and has thus shown a clear interest in the well-being of the Squadron as a whole.
 
It is my firm recommendation that such steady endeavours should be praised by arranging, through the proper channels, that Captain Sir James Thomson receives a Baronetcy from His Majesty the King for his efforts.

On September 14th 1816, Captain Edward Frobisher Esquire met with and defeated a pirate 12-pounder 'Belle Poule'-class frigate, while captaining his 9-pounder 'Surprise'-class frigate, off the port of Bonacca. Although outgunned and outclassed, Captain Frobisher managed to force the enemy onto the shore and denying him the ability to manoeuvre. Unable to reply to Captain Frobisher's raking fire, the Pirate was obliged to strike.

It is my opinion that this actions shows Captain Frobisher's clear ability of exploiting the mistakes of his enemies, resulting in the seizing of a ship of superior force. I therefore ask that he receive the Military Cross for his actions.

The continuous efforts of Lord Trentham at spanish coast agains spanish shipping and coastal defense have earned him already quite a name amongst spanish!

Traders fear him and call fleets after him even if they just see him around.

Numerous battles that i have also had honor to be present of and including all the well written after action reports alone should earn him the medal not once but even twice.

Lord Trenthams skills in boarding action and the knowledge of it is superior to non, there for its my humble duty to write up this request.

Fellow Flag Officers,

During the months of August and September, Sir James Thomson has on several occasions gone into action against enemy forces of various compositions and nationalities. Not only has he participated in large fleet actions off Jamaica, in particular the interception of the Dano-Norwegian fleet on August 29th, he has also conducted several cruises along the coast of Cuba, the latest of which is detailed in the report on the actions on September 15th. In these engagements he has met with success, mainly due to his excellent gunnery, the handling of his ship, and his eagerness to engage the enemy closely. I have personally witnessed his abilities on several occasions, and it is my opinion that he deserves to be awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions.

I have had pleasure to observe and read about this particular Captains reports of exploration. The reports are well written and full of usefull information.

This is most enjoyable to me as i dont have the luxury to do such long sails usually.

The sheer amount he invests to the reports and exploration are immense.

He truly deserves the PvE award.

Since he joined the Squadron, Captain Nick Mickelson Esquire has made a deliberate and focused effort to craft quality vessels, upgrades and other products, which has on several occasions benefited the Squadron and its captains. I have had my own ships worked on by his shipyards, giving them the needed edge against enemy ships. His success in the production and construction part of the war effort is admirable, and it is my firm belief that his abilities will play an important part in the Squadron’s coming engagements with the enemy. Only a dogged effort over time could produce the results Captain Mickelson has obtained.

I therefore wish that the Board will arrange, through the proper channels, for Captain Nick Mickelson Esquire to be dubbed into one of our Nation’s honourable knighthoods.

Sir Nick Mickelson - Out of Game Award: Admiral's Commendation

Fellow members of the Board,

Sir Nick Mickelson has recently made available a very useful toolbox for use when crafting or comparing various vessels, and is continuously updating it. Although I am not a craftsman, I have used it to compare my own ship to that of my enemies, to great effect. It is my recommendation that he recieves an Admiral's Commendation for his work.

Why this member deserves the Award or Promotion:
Officers of the Board,

Captain Sir Nick Mickelson has recently made a superb, state-of-the-art warship in upgrading my command, the H.M.S. 'Greyhound'. He had to find the various raw materials, most from the remote region of Bermuda, establish the facilities to make the components, and construct the ship there. He then escorted her all the way to Jamaica for his rendezvous with me. This operation is an arduous and time consuming task, which he glady did for his fellow captain.

He has also recently offered financial support to any captain that needs it. As such, he has shown his wish to strengthen the Squadron and its captains in his chosen field of expertise, and it is my pleasure to recommend that he recieve the Naval Gold Medal for his efforts.

On December 1st, 1816, Captain Edward Frobisher Esquire, while in command of the 38-gun H.M.S. 'Ardent' and in company of a British 'Suprise' frigate, met with and engaged four French frigates of superior force off Fort Royal. The enemy force consisted of one 30-gun frigate, one 38-gun frigate, one 44-gun razee frigate, and one 50-gun frigate. By deftly separating the enemy vessels and concentrating their fire on single ships, the British frigates managed to sink two of them, and force the surrender of the remaining two.

This engagement is a testament to Captain Frobisher's skill as a tactician and captain of his ship, and it is my firm belief that he deserves to be awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions.
