Harley Davidson Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Just love the changing weather in the game! Some suggestions on it though. I'd love to see lightning in some storms and maybe some days with not a cloud in the sky. But other than that its great. We really need some hot sunny Caribbean days though! Also once in a while it would be nice to have the wind veer instead of always backing.... 2
Capt. Rice Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 It seams to all ways be foggy in the Bahamas. Having those nice sunny days would be nice and/or maybe a rare hurricane.

Also once in a while it would be nice to have the wind veer instead of always backing.... I've noticed that as well, wind always backs and never veers. While good for planning routes, would be nice to see some variety. This is, of course, a very small niggling point!
Grim DeGrim Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 The weather is wonderful. On a related note of scenic views, the transition from days to nights could use additional transitioning... It is often like a lightswitch. I do love the sunsets, and the weather visuals.
Thymoral Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 We just need a moon so I can see stuff at night.
Banjar Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I also love the changing weather; the zero-visibility and high winds with downpour are just right. My suggestion would be to vary wind randomly rather than counter- clock as at present. 1
Admiral 8Q Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 My suggestion would be to vary wind randomly rather than counter- clock as at present. I agree on that, only perhaps it goes 1-3 notches either clockwise or counter-clockwise when it changes direction. Or up to 45 degrees.
Sinking in the Rain Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I love the weather too, and the idea of thunderstorms is great!But... is it normal in the caribbean have the sunset at 3 am? :/
Ghroznak Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I miss those heavy storms we had in Sea Trials. Been in a few rainy weather battles, but those are nowhere near the awesomeness of those stormy battles. Also wish we had wind-drift and currents in the game so we can't just sail in a straight line for 2+ hours and know where we will end up.
MiniVan Buren Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 It would be really cool to have random squalls appear in the Caribbean
BungeeLemming Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 erm.. we have storms ingame already. But they are rare since not every day there is a hurricane or big storm around. Storms wander around an area once they are created. Play a bit longer and you will see one of two fo sure. Its just that - they are rare
Cossack Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Yeah i have seen like 2 storms in 160 hours game time That said i think it gets a bit foggy too much. Sometimes i wonder if i have sailed back to England.
Sir Richard Bolitho Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Far too much fog in the Bensalem area, not realistic for the area and a huge overkill. Many players are getting frustrated. It's not the English channel. 1
Jack Marslow Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 My issue with weather is usually that you don't see it coming. When you look up at the sky you can tell bad weather is coming, but you have no idea which way its coming from. The sky just changes into one big amorphous blob of bad looking sky. Same with the fog. Id love to see a fog bank roll in on my ship and be visible on OW allowing me to try to sail around it or go right into it to hide from players. Same goes for the storms. "Oh what a nice day" "My those skies are dark" "HURRICANE!" in about 1 minute flat. You cant tell the direction of travel or the distance to you. The wind I agree needs to get a little bit more random. I very much like how I can plan an attack on a port to leave any defenders sailing into the wind for the first 20 minutes, but its a little too easy. It would be great if I plan that out and we start the attack, only to find the wind has decided to change direction clockwise for a few minutes instead. TLDR Wind is too predictable, bad weather is too unpredictable.
Hyperion74 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Either I saw a lightning flash the other day or there is a lightning monster in my house. I liked the WX.(aviation for weather) Not so much since I spent a really long time sailing down to the Yucatan and couldn't find my port because it rained, like, forever. Just joking. The WX is diverse. I sailed out of a squall and it looked pretty good. T like the effect of the rain drops on the camera lens. Not realistic, unless ur captain wears spectacles. Still cool though. Probably won't anything but better I suspect.
alien Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Next patch, seagulls near the ports.. and sea turtles and dolphins in the water
Strake Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Sailed yesterday from Tordo on the Mexican coast to Mantua in Cuba. Instead of the random squalls I am used to, had rain and storms for 90% of the cruise. Loved it.
DarkFenix Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Too much fog in my opinion too, visibility seems to be extremely low 80% of the time. Doesn't help that the people living in ports haven't discovered the secret of fire yet so they're invisible after dark.
Arvenski Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) I've been in a storm on the open world once. It was really cool. Visibility went down to about a few ship-lengths, it was pouring rain, I couldn't see a thing except for my own ship and the weather, I was afraid of overshooting my destination in all this and getting lost at sea... awesome. The downside was that, once I got into a battle, the battle weather was a clear evening sky. I hope they implement some more types of weather for battles at some point. Mighty Bouff Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 agree with too much fog and rain (the reason us Brits go on holiday to this area is the nice weather) and a big big call for more random wind!
Guest Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Sometimes a rainbow after the rain would be awesome
