CaptainTJ Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Well this sounds after an unofficial announcment of (playable?) Nations. Anyway , I found this for France: http://www.marinegarde.de/index4.html but i think ist a liddle bit to far in history for the game. This is for 1786-1790 i hink: http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchdetail.cfm?strucID=589688&imageID=1236992 http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchdetail.cfm?strucID=589689&imageID=1236993 http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchdetail.cfm?strucID=589691&imageID=1236995 And something more napoleonic: http://www.line-of-battle.de/uniformen 1700+: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/15/Officier_de_marine_francais_dessin_allegorique_vers_1700.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/68/Grasse%2C_Count_de_%28bust%29%2C_1837_-_NARA_-_512939.tif Somthing for Spain: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/66/Blas_de_Lezo_unknown_author.jpg Netherlands: (before 1700) http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Portrait_of_Michiel_de_Ruyter_-_Atlas_Blaeu-Van_der_Hem_%28Volume_II%29.jpg (1784) http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Suffen_recevant_une_epee_d_or_de_la_Hollande.jpg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Daniel-Orme-Duncan-receiving-Surrender-at-Camperdown-jpg.jpg I hope it helped a liddle bit. i know Wikipedia is not the best port for historical accuracy but it's better than nothing.
Digby Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Can you guys help us with references for marines uniforms for France, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden and maybe Portugal? We only have good refs for the british. What period? Uniforms changed completely between 1650 and 1805. I think you guys need to choose a historical period and stick with it, making ships of that era at least initially, then when the game kicks off you could run different servers/worlds set in different periods. France didn't have marines as we think of them (British Marines, a corps specifically raised to serve aboard warships) so French warships would have soldiers drafted aboard from whatever regiment was available in port or a nearby garrison, so soldiers can have any line infantry uniform, even red coats if they happen to be Irish or Swiss Netherlands 1753: http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchdetail.cfm?trg=1&strucID=124064&imageID=92395&total=58&num=40&parent_id=120473&s=¬word=&d=&c=&f=&k=1&sScope=&sLevel=&sLabel=&lword=&lfield=&sort=&imgs=20&pos=50&snum=&e=w http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchdetail.cfm?trg=1&strucID=124063&imageID=92394&total=58&num=40&parent_id=120473&s=¬word=&d=&c=&f=&k=1&sScope=&sLevel=&sLabel=&lword=&lfield=&sort=&imgs=20&pos=49&snum=&e=w Dutch Naval officers uniform 1775: http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchdetail.cfm?trg=1&strucID=123794&imageID=93213&total=44&num=20&parent_id=120479&s=¬word=&d=&c=&f=&k=1&sScope=&sLevel=&sLabel=&lword=&lfield=&sort=&imgs=20&pos=33&snum=&e=w Spain, 1760: http://www.nimix.net/paginas%20de%20items/N36%20Fusilero%20Inf.Marina_ingles.htm http://www.nimix.net/paginas%20de%20items/N35%20Oficial%20Inf.Marina%20_ingles.htm I came across this while looking for Spanish uniforms. No marines but the re-enactor photos give some great inspiration for sailors, smugglers, pirates and local militia/armed citizens units if you ever decide to do ports 'n' forts: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?408128-Spanish-Units-Uniforms-in-the-XVIII-Century

Haratik Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Came across these while doing some research on the USS America. Still need to check the validity of the images, but they're worth posting imo: United States Navy Uniforms: 1810-1815 Uniforms of the Royal Navy, 1767-1787 Uniforms of the Royal Navy, 1787-1795 Uniforms of the Royal Navy, 1795-1812 3
Tomas MacMoragh Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Those usn Unaforms look a bout right... unless your thinking about the contantel navy yearfords, which where horable plain egalatarion republican things. with red waste coats, and no gold brade even for officers of command rank
Barberouge Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Merged the new topic with the old one, thanks.
Haratik Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Sorry about that! Got a few more: Edit: Seems like Wind posted the ones I posted earlier, but without labels. I'll come back tomorrow and add ranks to each one. Uniforms of the United States Navy, 1800-1808 Uniforms of the Federal Navy, 1794-1799 Uniforms of the Continental Navy, 1776-1783 Uniforms of the Royal Navy, 1748-1767
