Can you guys help us with references for marines uniforms for France, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden and maybe Portugal? We only have good refs for the british.

Can you guys help us with references for marines uniforms for France, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden and maybe Portugal? We only have good refs for the british. 

What period? Uniforms changed completely between 1650 and 1805.

 

I think you guys need to choose a historical period and stick with it, making ships of that era at least initially, then when the game kicks off you could run different servers/worlds set in different periods.

 

France didn't have marines as we think of them (British Marines, a corps specifically raised to serve aboard warships) so French warships would have soldiers drafted aboard from whatever regiment was available in port or a nearby garrison, so soldiers can have any line infantry uniform, even red coats if they happen to be Irish or Swiss ;)

I came across this while looking for Spanish uniforms. No marines but the re-enactor photos give some great inspiration for sailors, smugglers, pirates and local militia/armed citizens units if you ever decide to do ports 'n' forts:

can i send some pdf books to you - its Osprey - Men at Arms 313 - Louis XV's Army (5) Colonial And Naval Troops, Osprey and Men at Arms 227 - Napoleon's Sea Soldiers (this one has a lot of colour uniforms)

 

or i could upload some pages as pictures but i would prefer to just send you the books

Those usn Unaforms look a bout right... unless your thinking about the contantel navy yearfords, which where horable plain egalatarion republican things.  with red waste coats, and no gold brade even for officers of command rank
