edmald Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Hello! I decided to sail around a bit and explore. Currently playing as the Swedish Faction. Been up to Bermuda and now on my way to Charleston. While sailing i found a island, where there were a pirate controlled town called Kidd's Harbor. So i decided to check on the Map to see where exactly i were on the map, since...well i had no clue. To my surprise this location doesn't exists on the map. If it does, i must be blind. So my question is; Perhaps Kidd's Harbor is called something else on the big map? Anyone else found this place? (Forgot to take Screenshot) Hope i posted this in the right section.
Mirones Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 if everything would be marked there were no point for exploring things 2
edmald Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 Hah, well thanks for clearing that up. I didn't know that there were such location. Fantastic news indeed! 1
thomas aagaard Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 You might have gone off the map to the north? (you do not get stopped if you do and can just keep sailing)
Admiral 8Q Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 You might have gone off the map to the north? (you do not get stopped if you do and can just keep sailing) There be dragons there... Go far enough and you may find Valhalla.
ObiQuiet Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 You will learn to hold such secrets more closely, sir. (Give you joy of your discovery!) 2
Jack Marslow Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 (edited) https://gyazo.com/280403a4db35586137bd515ef3f7b02c Its the island to the east of the screenie. Edited February 8, 2016 by Jack Marslow
Ghroznak Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 So Kidds Harbour is not shown on the ingame map? (I'm at work so I can't check). If that is the case, and map locations exist even though they aren't on the actual game map... does this mean we can sail to Europe?
Jack Marslow Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I dont think anyone has ever tried to find out. Sail east and let us know. You will also prove the Earth is round if you sail straight east and end up in Europe.
ObiQuiet Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 (edited) Upon a time, there was a force field to the east. To keep us in their little playpen. I ventured that far, once. Swore I would never do it again. Ask me over a bottle, sometime, and I might tell you about it. I'm not the record holder, though. Others have ventured much, much further. Rumor is that there is no known boundary to the south, though. Edited February 8, 2016 by M.Cmdt. ObiQuiet
Mirones Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 one tryed and found a hole in the invisible wall towards north and sailed to europe and madagaskar atleast acording to cordinates. but nothing but water there nothing to waste time on yet
Ghroznak Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 What happens if you keep sailing north up along the coast past Miami area? Will the landmass end abruptly at end of the map, or can you continue to follow landmass all the way up towards Canada? Hm...
edmald Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 Well, i sure will. I have found two isles i have not seen on the map yet. But only one town, sadly the town belonged to the Pirate Nation so i couldn't enter. Who knows what might have been in stock there!? I'm unsure of its location. But...i am confident i will find it again. When i explored i sailed in just one straight line in one direction using a Town as pointer, so if anyone is interested i can try explain where it "should" be.
Prater Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 one tryed and found a hole in the invisible wall towards north and sailed to europe and madagaskar atleast acording to cordinates. but nothing but water there nothing to waste time on yet No, that is not true. Helene was greatly exaggerating.
Admiral 8Q Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) https://gyazo.com/280403a4db35586137bd515ef3f7b02c Its the island to the east of the screenie. That's actually a better looking map than the in-game one. If something like that, even without the co-ords was implemented, that would be enough for a final map look .For the land though, perhaps have it darker grey on the coastlines and a bit lighter in the interior with dark grey names of large areas like Florida, Jamaica, etc. Edited February 10, 2016 by Admiral 8Q
TaylorNox Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 You've just given away one of the best kept pirate secrets ever. At least you haven't given heading to get there.
Remo Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 You've just given away one of the best kept pirate secrets ever. At least you haven't given heading to get there. A lot of nationals already knew where it was, it's not best kept nor a secret.
hoarmurath Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) one tryed and found a hole in the invisible wall towards north and sailed to europe and madagaskar atleast acording to cordinates. but nothing but water there nothing to waste time on yet yes, and i even posted screens from indian ocean coordinates, i got blocked in shallows approximately at sumatra... Beyond some point, the landscape change from endless water to stripes of shallows. If you manage to pass them, there's a kind of coast, shallows don't block your ship anymore, and you can sail under land. From this point, you can go anywhere. Basically, i first sailed through south america, then turned east at what should have been capetown latitude, passed supposed madagascar position, crossed the indian ocean, and as i turned to NE to try to reach singapore, i ended entangled in the same stripes of shallows i had encountered at the beginning, they seem to go on forever at same latitude. Out of this, the whole trip was under land. Later, i wondered if there was anything for europe, sailed accross atlantic to reach portugal, ended my trip in spain. There was nothing to see, it was the same endless landscape i had already seen on my first trip. The most interesting trip was when i managed to exit the map and sailed west to reenter on the pacific coast. You can see it on ingame map now. I found out a fully detailed coast, but without ports and traffic. Too bad there's no way of passing through central america to reach this zone, it would have greatly increased the sailing area. Tindahbawx Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 yes, and i even posted screens from indian ocean coordinates, i got blocked in shallows approximately at sumatra... Jesus, how long did that take you?
hoarmurath Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Jesus, how long did that take you? Three or four days irl...
ObiQuiet Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Oh, imagine the battles for control of the "Panama Passage" or for Cape Horn. If we do get to go into the Pacific via the Cape, that would be an ideal place for weather damage and no available ports, to add strategic variation to the map.
Prater Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Jesus, how long did that take you? He is lying, I made a post a long time ago about the details he had given us. The screenshots he provided were no where near where he said he was, and the time he said he had spent sailing was not even close to be enough time. The admin even said that what he was saying was impossible. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/5185-open-world-world-size-port-locations-map-problems-discussions/page-19?hl=sumatra#entry132098
