Did any of those happen in real battles? Maybe crew rescue? All other actions were done after the battle, not in the middle of manoveuring and gunfire.

Why we need armor on masts?
SirWili replied to Reki's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I remember how you complained in the chat, still you chose to shoot at santi instead of victorys or at several bellonas which had lost all or nearly all of their armor. You were too angry to listen to us when we tried to mention about that... Anyway, the situation should be improved with the more accurate damage model. If I have understood it correctly, you should be able to shoot thru the gunports, glass should be glass and in general there should be more weakpoinst to shoot at with the small guns. -
Why we need armor on masts?
SirWili replied to Reki's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
We need sails ripping themselves from stormy winds, masts which rip themselves off from decks because of the stress while ramming other ships. We need less accurate cannons (600 meters might be close to reality), we need effective grapeshots. But we dont need armored masts. Just my 2cent on the subject. -
Why it wouldn't be fair? I was backing them up in crowdfunding, the problem was not the amount of money they collected in the beginning, the real problem was that they didnt stop collecting it. This led to a situation where the plans for the game become huge and frankly a bit megalomaniac. People still listened to the sweet talk and kept on funding them even more so they had to keep promising more, then they got more funding and.... You see the pattern here? Sadly they still keep on doing it. Im afraid that because of the massive intentent content, they wont be able to keep up the high stantards, some sections or subgames, if you prefer the term, will end up unplayed or unbalanced. It will most likely end up being jack of all trades, but master of only graphics. It wont be the next tetris, I lost a lot of my trust for the development after they started to spam new ships on marked before they were even fully modelled, or playable. For time being I have seen them setting mostly goals, working on them slowly, setting new goals, working on them even slower, setting some more goal, postponing their schedule and slowly forgetting their first goals.

Close Battle View

I would hope that they would finalize the ballistics, damage model and open world gameplay + bring in around 30 new ships. After those steps, this would definitely be on my top 10 gameplay improvement list. -
Nice goal. Sadly the timetable in SC seems to be made of rubberbands and goals from soap bubbles.

Cannon range and damage guide?
SirWili replied to Cookie_Monster's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Hit probability is not for shooting, afaik. its the change of the cannon to be hit when enemy fires at your ship. -
Cannon range and damage guide?
SirWili replied to Cookie_Monster's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Sorry for derailing from the topic, I wont continue on the subject after this post. I find it still interesting, what caused the effective range to be less? Ball was heavier than on cannon, and flew almost as long as one shot from a cannon, which should mean that potential energy on the ball should be comparable, if not even higher on carronade. Also the difference in elevation was only 2-3 degrees, so the arc of the shot wasnt that different in comparison to the cannon. What were the reasons why the effective range was half in comparison to tge cannonball, since the differency in hit energy doesnt seem that huge? -
Cannon range and damage guide?
SirWili replied to Cookie_Monster's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Mostly the range. Carronades could shoot further away than they do in this game. But then again the cannons couldnt hit anything (reliably) from distances exceeting 400 meters, so it might be that carronades are closer to historical performance than cannons, although both seem to be too accurate afaik.https://ageofsail.wordpress.com/2009/02/28/introducing-the-carronade-the-range-myth/ -
Ingame chat color for mods.
SirWili replied to SirWili's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
As I said in my starting post, they should have the change to use the moderating color. Not as a default, but when the occasion rises. -
Portugal? Asian countries?
-
I agree that we disagree, but it seems that you are looking the aspect of faith and religion in much narrower perspective. While I'm talking about the world, rural areas and pretty much everything outside the going to be usa, england, spain, portugal, france, benelux countries and germany. It seems that you would like to consentrate on them and the capital cities. Fair enough, its your right, but please try not to over generalize.

Wheres the info about game focusing only on europe and caribean? Thats a pity. And again you are speaking about europe and meaning six of the most western countries of it. mediterranean, eastern and northern european countries had somewhat different status at that time, as well as the south america. I dont know that much about north american history, so you might have a point there... I will try to check it. Btw. Education offered to common man, if there was any, was pretty much organized by church in most parts of the world, even long into the 19th century and it still is in some places. First link about 18th century religious history in google: http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel02.html Speaks somewhat strongly against your writings, but then again its only the congress library, I dont know if thats considered as reliable source of information?
