  1. Awesome changes! love that you're further making full sails weaker. Regarding determined defender is that a 30% advantage for the defender? or attacker. Like if ship A has 100 crew and ship B wants to board ship A with 101 crew it could with current mechanics. Does ship B need 130 crew now to be able to board the 100 crew ship A? or does ship A need 130 crew to be safe to be boarded by the 100 crew ship B.
  2. I really like the new battle sails mechanics, this is gonna counter the easy demasting for sure good job! Eager to test it out in combat, especially because furling sails is slower you have to put a lot of thought into your tactics when to commit to a brawl
  3. I've been playing since sea trials and am not a casual player, yet if you look at the game in 2016 it was very playable and the hardcore part was mostly about gaining skill in combat and fleet battles which have an awesome challenging learning curve. There was a massive playerbase with up to 2k people online at evenings. talking about 1st rates with 5 lives, cheap mods, not expensive crafting, etc. It was all about getting your hands dirty into open world pvp or RVR Somehow it slowly got shifted to a equipment race over the years. I'm not trying to argue for a full casual experience where you don't need skill and get everything for free, that wouldn't be satisfying indeed. However I'm very worried that it's going so far the other road that people will stop playing. If they stop playing there is nothing to do which is already a huge problem atm finding balanced content.
  4. Well, it gives unfair disadvantages to casual players. in other mmo's like wow there is also severe grinding but at least you can keep the gear after the grind. It's just not really fun to have this big of a gap in between mods, woods, guns etc. It takes away the skill from this game and promotes this attitude of shit I'm escaping this battle because there is a small chance I lose my expensive ship. Surely that's not how you guys envision the gameplay to be like? So many people just run from battles now and waste your time for 1 hour even in the PZ. What's the point of farming this long for the expensive ships if you only want to use them for ganking? and then you have the people taking dlc ships with medium guns to the PZ without mods and it's a walk in the park to sink them. literally doesn't take any skill to kill them, captured ships are even worse. If the combination of woods, mods and guns in total only make a ship about 15% different that would make sense. The powercreep with unique woods, unique guns, and best mods is just insane. I wonder what people like the most, equal chances with equal ships, or hey he farmed more hours so you lose (unless he's suuuuper bad at the game)
  5. oh god... first the woods and now they made it so cannons cost way more reals to craft too (42 pdr longs went from 103 reals to 2300)... this kind of weird logics is really starting to push me away from this game and makes me think the devs have no clue how people play their game. PVP has basically no rewards and you need an insane amount of reals to get woods, mods, ships, reps and now cannons to be remotely competitive... Not to mention the complete unbalanced gameplay atm with regards to demasting. Please make either pvp more profitable so people want to fight instead of only thinking about ganking or reduce all prices so it's accesible. Atm it's only based upon getting kills which won't happen if you get ganked, PZ is already pretty nice in that regards where damage counts. Can you imagine playing world of tanks or call of duty but you first need to farm 5 hours to craft a sniper rifle or tank so you could lose it in 10 minutes? I miss the days where every ship and mod was super easy and cheap to craft and you could actually just play the game, how strange xD or good old sea trials... RIP
  6. @admin Looking forward to the further tweaking of the hull and mast thickness. However could you reduce the windshadow? It's waaaay to strong for gameplay reasons and kills any possible counterplay once someone has the wind advantage. I suggest reducing the range and the intensity of the effect by 50% for 1st rates. It makes sense if you are 100 meter away from someone that it's gonna have a huge effect, but as it is now it makes fleet manouvering nearly impossible to a point where you can't even tack if someone is windshadowing you from 300 meters away.
  7. Yes we really need it! Maybe only limit it for a certain time window or X amount of battles each day so ppl still spend most of their time on the OW. But it's super hard to train fleet battles atm that's balanced and would love to have an option to train again.
  8. Greetings, Me, Tosch and Admaa stumbled upon this polish player being attacked on the OW by 2 russian players and joined the battle on the polish side. Once we entered it was clear they were friends and tried to lure us in to a false battle. In the chat logs the polish player talks about not helping the fight. He fired a full broadside on me as friendly fire and also deliberatly came in between me and his friends to ram of my bow sprit. Occasionally he fired into their masts from long distance to "prove" he was on our side... The 2 russian players did not fire a single shot at him the entire battle which lasted 40 minutes. He then looted the sunk ship of the first of his friends to go down and his other friend ran into him to get boarded because he was losing the fight. After which he captured it and left the battle probably to give it back to his friend. Here are the chat logs
  9. the problem with the pirate faction is that everyone can join them without consequences making it super imbalanced compared to other nations. I don't mind a tough fight but it really is not fun to see former people from your nation turn pirate because they have an easier time then. And then what bothers me the most is that the game strives for historical accuracy so hard yet you have this pirate nation that wouldn't have existed irl. It's like the tv series black sails but then even more ridiculous hehe. I'm happy the devs are gonna make changes to this and can't wait to see what they are gonna come up with. It's no easy task for sure.
  10. yep got 2 kills 16 assist, got 1.17 mil gold and 11607 exp for it, great fight but the victory isn't that much tougher than a bellona atm so 25 ships for like 5 of us doesn't seem like a bad trade. not to mention all the gold we got from this fight easily covers the expenses of new vics being built
  11. are you sure the battle was over and you didn't just leave 2 minutes after you captured a ship? You can't keep your prizes as long as the battle is still going on. Also if you kill it by grapeshot and not boarding the ship will go to the player or ai that did the most hull damage to it, if you want the ship board it or capture it with x after decrewing to 0
  12. I've tested out both setups and looked at the damage log, the carronades have a potential for higher damage but they very often do not penetrate + the medium guns feel like they have more damage over time with that incredible reload rate. the only good thing about carronades is it has a higher chance of putting someone in reload shock if you can aim well with it, but it's very easy to mess up an entire broadside if you don't time/aim it right, this is where medium guns are way more forgiving. Also the mediums and longs penetrate and dmg both sides at once because they have enough penetration to keep going through both sides, carronades don't. So if an enemy is shielding his weak side you are gonna be better of using mediums since you can still dmg the weak side by overpenetrating. and don't forget irl carronades were usually not used to shoot the hull because of the low penetration, it was used to sweep the decks thats why it's usually only the quarterdeck that has carronades on a ship.
  13. use medium guns they do almost the same damage, you can easily reload shock people with 3-4 hits and they reload so fast, using longs isn't worth it till you start using frigate, constitution or higher. That's where you need them for the extra range to chase down targets running away. carronades are pretty bad atm since a 32 pdr carronade only does like 15% extra dmg over a 9pdr medium. but the 9 pdr reloads like twice as fast so it's not balanced at all. not to mention the accuracy on carronades is pretty bad at range
  14. sure propose a time and number of ships and im sure we can work something out perhaps do the fight around la tortue?
  15. perhaps an arranged battle in between our primetimes might be a good idea? because its pretty clear neither of us are gonna have good fights else and we should enjoy the last weeks before we can grind ourselves to death again
