  1. It is true, the forever war is back. Every nation is p***ed by everything. At first, all is well but after afew years all hell breaks loose. This is also en old thing, it was that way a while back. US is sending a destroyer through the irish sea : -10 relation. My ships pass through the panama canal : -10 relation. Provocation by the US admiral : WAR!!!! Then France. Russia. Italy. Spain. I knock out sole italian battleship. Sue for peace. I knock out one of two french battleships. Sues for peace. I destroy a large russian convoy and bombard a harbor. Sues for peace. I take nothing because they offer nothing but really bad designed destroyers. I try to rebuild them so they are actually useful, but this takes longer and costs more than building my own. So scrap. Three months later I am at war with Russia again. In the meantime, US sues for peace after I take some of their carribean possetions. I can take a very badly designed battleship, no provinces, though. Again, rebuilding the BB to useful standards takes up valuable shipyard space, more time than building a new one and since the hull is obsolete, I scrap it. Back to work against spain. In the meantime, China has declared war for...reasons. So I send long range submarines and BANG! Yes! I strike with my submarine cruisers against a lone battleship and sink it. China sues for peace. Never mind, for the US sent a lot of ships...everywhere and for sure, I am at war again. So, I am currently looking at a more realistic naval wargame and Azur Lane comes into mind.
  2. Did that too, no avail. Perhaps I should create for EACH year, but only if the other grievances like enemies running away and ship balance are adressed. I thank you all for your help
  3. I guess it is the gun tech level, because the Shipyard always uses the latest guns. So, even if you have a 1920 battleship with semi-oil, steam turbines and the like, but it will have the best guns, which may not have been researched.
  4. I do not use advanced technologies, I try to be as minimal as possible. Still, nothing. Maybe they build them but later decide to scrap them because there are not enough torpedoes on them, I do not know.
  5. I appreciate that Modders are creating mods that work just fine and I commend you for your hard work. But I think that is not the solution. When I signed up way back in the Beta phase, the premise was a single player game (Multi-Player was ruled out) that would be fun to play and that's what I bought. In the beginning, there were no torpedo fleets. Yes, the game was not as polished as it it now, but it was a game that placed the Dreadnought/Battleship at it's center. Also, how would you do a multiplayer in a campaign? Force the player to use the unbalanced torpedo ships the AI created? It would greatly help if the "Shared Designs" would be really implemented, regardless of researched technology and torpedo-preferrence, really forcing the AI to build a player-created battleship, regardless of cost and technology.
  6. I am out for now as well. I started a new campaign, hoping that the AI uses the (minimum tech) shared designs I built. Alas...no. Not a single of my designs is in the AIs arsenal. Instead...you guessed it...torpedoes, torpedoes and more torpedoes. The AI crams tubes on every free space, even going so far to place tubes in invalid locations in some cases, I discovered that when trying to re-built ships I got as reparations. Battles against enemy capital ships are only a thing at the beginning of the war. Once sunk, the enemy concentrates on light cruisers and destroyers and masses of submarines, even on harder difficulties, because these can pack lots of torpedoes. I have a collection of screenshots of really impossible enemy designs, but I posted some of these earlier, so I spare you the horror. Regardless of the composition of my task groups, the enemy only challanges a part of it, mostly cruisers and destroyers and even then runs away. Sometimes, shortly before catching up to the enemy, the weather changes to very bad and the chase is futile again. Speaking of weather, often when I manage to generate a battle with a superior forces...crack, rumble...thunderstorm. And even with radar on my side, the enemy sneaks up in torpedo range and I cannot evade the wall of hundred torpedoe streaking my way. While I effortlessly can build balanced battleships and battlecruisers, most smaller ships are hopelessly front-heavy, as many have mentioned earlier. Placing most guns aft, funnels center and aft does not help. Some ships are only balanced when I delete any front-mounted guns, which I badly need in the tail chases (hm...perhaps this is deliberate?). Ah... So, please dear Devs. I would like to love this game, as it is an original Idea. Since I was a little boy, I am "building, drawing, playing" warships and this game was a dream come true. Hell, I even cried when I first build my dream warship. But as of now it is more frustrating by the day. Please reconsider the course the game is taking now, remove the torpedo-based enemy fleets, tweak some weights here and there and get the enemy either to fight or tell me they escape. Obviously, "Auto-Battle" is a very dangerous solution, as this risks my entire fleet against and single destroyer (enemy torpedo-armed light cruisers regulary sink half a dozen ships, including large battleships in aut-battle). There seem to be many frustrated players as of now and I am one of them. I ask you humbly, do something against this frustration. Thanks.
  7. That, and the fact that the starting technology often is too low to make even low-end shared-designs work, prompting the AI to develop, well, the above torpedo boats.
  8. Yeah, it is fun sometimes. And if ONE or TWO navies decide to go all torpedoes...okay. But this is getting out of hand. No, the battleship has a minimal tower, but just the 531.2cm main guns with auto II loading and reduced ammunition. Who needs secondaries or a balanced ship?
  9. I just finished two campaigns and...well...this is what it has come down to: In that picture, you can see the typical AI design nowadays. Some minimal gun armament, always with very rapid reload and more often than not reduced ammunition. Very, very, VERY many torpedo tubes on all designs except battleships. Battleships are now, as can be seen, often construced with only the main guns and...that's it. Every nation, regardless if you set it to "historical" or not, identifies the torpedo as the weapon to go. And rightfully so. Firing 30+ broadsides per vessel and a hit from a 19-inch torpedo very often triggering ammunition explosions (yes, even on max Bulkheads, Anti-Torpedo IV and Barbette IV), they can rightfully claim to invest in the correct weapons system Dear Developers, I know I will not get an answer, but is this really what the game should be about? I thought it would be about battlewagons clashing with, of course, smaller vessels to escort and interfere. Yes, of course, I wanted torpedo-armed vessels to ruin the day of the big bruisers when handled correctly. But later in the game, around 1920, it comes down to dodge massive salvoes, nay, walls of torpedoes (especially when the enemy developed Oxygen-propelled eels) and try to stay alive. Personally, I do not think that this is the direction the game should go. Thank you for your consideration.
  10. uhm...just when you think you haven't had enough enemy torpedo ships : I have now encountered several vessels, austria-hungarian and chinese at least, that are crammed with torpedo tubes. Okay, no big deal, that's normal. But in these cases, these vessels did not possess any bridge structure at all to facilitate a 60-torpedo tube armament. A little overboard or a bug?
  11. Yeah, that's an unfortunate occurance almost every time a patch or update comes out. Usually, they warn in advance here or on the Steam Forums.
  12. oh...thank you, Brother Munro. That makes Shared Designs somewhat useless, but I understand.
  13. uhm...can someone please tell me how to get "Shared Designs" to work? This is my first try (1920) hard campaign with the latest patch. I thave constructed a lot of ships 1916, 1918, 1920 for all nations. I have selected that shared designs are a MUST for the AI. However, all I face are torpedo cruisers with 30 torpedo broadsides. Destroyers with 18 torpedo broadsides. Heavy cruisers with 24 torpedo broadsides. Torpedoes, TORPEDOES and many, MANY more TORPEDOES. Battles are dodging the wall of torpedoes that are fired from vessels I can barely see (they blink into existence to fire, than vanish again only for another ship to appear and vanish, completely making a firing solutions impossible. Closing means certain death due to running into the torpedo wall. Must I construct shared designs for each year?
  14. Well, it should be possible by adding more tower variants to the old hull as time and technology progresses. That would indeed a great thing to have
  15. Thank you. But the problem was resolved in a recent update Ah, could we have an overview of the coming ship hulls, please?
