  1. Don't use Indiaman at dangerous routes at European prime time. Much safer is using 4 Trader Lynxes. Those have their best speed upwind and can escape all square rigged ships. Only Requin, Lynxes, Privateers and Princes you have to fear then. Bad thing is you can only transport 2000 cargo then. But 16000 cargo in 4 Fir Fir Indiaman probably undercrewed and without cannons is extremely high risk and will lead to a lot of loss. When you have enough crew for 3 Indiaman, don't craft them in Fir Fir. Use Teak Sabicu or something similar strong. You will lose some speed, but even a fir fir Indiaman is a slow ship, which can be catched by everybody. Put cannons on all Indiaman and take a Trinco, Wasa or Redoutable as main ship. Then it is almost impossible for a single frigate to attack you successfully. The firepower will destroy it before it is able to sink one of your traders. Of course a ganker squadron will kill you anyway. Best way to avoid attacks while trading is to avoid hunters. Stay outside main trading routes. Trade in the morning. Do the dangerous part of your travel with trader lynxes and sail your cargo into the next port which is outside of the busy area. Get out on the high sea far away from every coast as fast as possible. Coastal waters are dangerous waters. And nver forget. There is no trading with zero risk. So don't put your whole fortune in one fleet. You can lose everything then in a few minutes.
  2. You still have the speed to run away from a line ship. Brawling a line ship will become highly risky now. Is there something wrong with that? I think it was always a cheap tactic to attack a line ship, and as soon as you got some damage you just used your speed to sail away. Don't think that intercepting traders in front of important ports will happen with line ships now. There frigates still have their playground.
  3. That's your business. When players do 5 hours trade sails it's not your business. You see, I don't mind, if you don't do that grind. I didn't ask to implement it into game, but I will do what is required to get the best ships. As long as you don't complain that my ships are better than your DLCs everything is fine. But as soon as the whining starts, you should think twice about your idea to just play a game which fits more to your play style.
  4. What he said is that those who have the top ships cannot be beaten anymore, since they have the monopoly on wealth in game. That is wrong. Everybody has access to top ships. It has nothing to do with fighting skills. Trading is still the best possibility, as long as you know what you're doing. My traders lynx is speed capped. And we are talking about 90kk reals you have to invest for a rare log Ocean with rare cannons. You need to capture a lot of traders lynxes with expensive books to earn that money by pvp. And you need a lot of more time than doing it with trade runs.
  5. Yeah, but if you don't accept to stay poor, as long as you refuse to grind, you're playing the wrong game.
  6. Hard work means that you check the market for weeks every few hours to buy your logs or the trade goods you wanna make money with. Putting 12k logs for 180kk into 3 Indiaman and of course you don't sail them afk but with escort over the whole map. What means you spend 5 hours in front of your screen watching the horizon, wind boosts and your escort since you have a fortune in your hold which will take you at least a week to replace and can be destroyed by someone else in 30 minutes. That's for me as funny as you think it is, while you refuse to do it. You can discuss if those rare logs should have been implemented into the game. If the port upgrades should have been implemented, if those huge differences between ships should be part of game mechanic. But as long as they are implemented and as long as they are so extremely time consuming and boring to get, they need to make a decent difference being worth the grind. Otherwise they will not be used anyway. And devs could have spend their time to develop something else. @Puchu It's the same boredom for everybody. But some people do that grind even though it's boring. Others like you don't do it. That's like in real life. Some have money because they get up early for work. Others stay in bed and have nothing. That's only fair.
  7. It's not the problem of the experienced pvp player who has only equal chance against the unexperienced trader in top ship. There is nothing wrong with that. Since both take the best advantage out of their skills. The problem is that the only pvp players stand no chance against the experienced pvp players who know how to trade as well or have a clan on their side which organizes them the ships they can compete with everybody. This game is not made for players who wanna jump in for two hours and have some instant fun and a lot of success.
  8. How do you get rich by winning a battle? How do you get rich by winning almost all battles? They increased the bounty for winning a battle. For the 40 minutes you need to kill an ocean you get around 250k reals now. Only to compare. For the five hours sailing 12k rare logs from one side of the map to the other you earn 180kk reals. That's almost 100 times as much with the same time spending in game. It's a fairytail that players with the best ships can buy an unassailable lead to regular players. Everybody can get those ships, as long as he is willing to do the hard work needed for. Truth is that players with the best ships spend a lot of time and money to finance them.
  9. This heavily upgraded thickness is the result of heavy grinding. If this can be neutralized with regular longs there is something wrong with balance. I have no issue that navy guns which also need heavy grinding to get can neutralize thickness as a result of heavy grinding. Gunnery four should neutralize hull four. Navy guns should neutralize malabar/danzic.
  10. Of course we can discuss the extra thickness of hull 4, rare logs etc. But then we also have to discuss the uncredible grinding to get this extra thickness. If you don't get a huge advantage over those who deny this extreme extra work all of those changes should just be removed. Since it just doesn't make any sense anymore to spend weeks and weeks for just a few centimeters better thickness which allows you to survive 5 minutes longer. When it comes to mast thickness we should heavily increase the amount we get from mast and rig one to four. That was always the upgrade clans improved last, since it had never the same use than hull, speed or crew. A good balanced game still allows demasting of a rare log 1. Rate with rare guns, as long as the demaster takes a severe risk to lose his complete armour (also rare logs vs. rare guns) while trying to demast his opponent. It should not allow to easily demast or destroy armour of a rare log 1. rate with regular guns. If demasting, boarding or leaking is the superior way to go, it will become noobish to shoot hull instead. Therefore any investment in hull will be a waste of time and resources. Those who want to go for demasting, boarding or leaking have to take a high risk to get defeated with another tactic if they don't implement their tactic without mistakes. If any patch doesn't guarantee this rule battle mechanic will lose most of its variations and the game will become a lot more boring, what will lead in a loss of a lot of players.
  11. If it all goes about demasting now, what was the sense to implement seasonal logs and rare logs then? If demasting gets so easy in future, battles will go only about that and about the boarding after. For none of those moves rare logs are needed. It will just be a waste of time to collect the reals, use the time to buy them in a quantity you need for an Ocean and sail them over the whole map to your crafting port. Ships with rare logs will not be worth the time and money. They will face the destiny of battle ships, when planes became able to sink them easily. Nobody spends millions or billions (in real live) for a ship which can be destroyed with much less expensive ships without risks.
  12. World doesn't suffer from people who correct their mistakes. World suffers from people who do not correct themselves, eventhough they have realized that they were wrong.
  13. St. Johns is much closer to all ports where rare logs sporn. No need anymore to sail the stuff into the Gulf.
  14. Everybody is free being the Salvation Army. But you have to collect first what you want to distribute. Charitable posts feed nobody.
  15. Small clan players will never be able to enter main ports like VC. If they come with their national accounts they will be tagged outside by everybody. If they use Russian alts they will be tagged by Russian hunters under false flag. Only big enemy clans can organize strong convois to exploit other nations port upgrades successfully. And you know very well that small clans have no issues to get on friendlists of the major clans. Have a look on the friendlist of REDS. It is full of small clans mostly with PvE players. They all contributed their little stake of wooden chests and helped upgrading our port. Without friendlist none of them would have had the idea to help us. And it would have been you and me doing ten times as much homefleet missions to replace what they contributed. There is a difference between teamwork and socialism. In a team all members contribute and all members benefit from the fruits of their work. In socialism some are doing the work and the rest exploits them.
