  1. Well I do. I used to do the odd trade with @Macjimm but seeing the game becoming increasingly elitist and less and less skill-based I moved on. The game, in its current state, could basically be replaced by a WoWS system and ppl would have to wait less to get more.

  3. 1k players is between two servers. I haven't been online in a long while but I'd wager the EU server reaches approx 600 on a normal day, and 750 on a day where there's an important PB. To me that's a failure. Back in the day we had multiple servers and one issue with the game atm is: Contend. If you don't like PBs, if you have an evening where you're basically just got a few hours to play and want to go hunting by yourself, what chances do u have? Your ship is shite since you're not a member of a ruling clan, your woodtype is uncompetitive, you may not have access to decent modules and this was supposed to be a skill-based game. In NA as in most PvP games - speed is life, but I can get a SoL to run faster than a frig without port bonus'.. It's a failed set-up and it has been for years.
  4. Tbh a MMO with less than a 1k players online is dead in any meaningfull sense of the word. I have a slight issue with any1 proclaiming a game to be either dead, dying or 'alive', in order to even have such a debate you'd need a uniform understanding on what criterias we use for the designations and what we consider to be 'dead', 'dying' or 'alive'. I'd rather have a discussion on wether we believe the playernumbers are good enough or wether we'd like to see an increase. IF we'd like to see an increase we'd first have to identify what players like and dislike about the game. Personally, imo the game is dead. I consider a MMO a game that has massive amounts of players online, this has never really been NA, atleast not since early early access. What could be argued against that pov is fx. that the game is continously evolving, removing/adding/changing content, making 'release' basically a poor joke, but nvm. What I'd like to see, isn't in NA atm and the playernumbers support that pov, since I don't believe it'll ever be reintroduced in NA then, for me atleast the game is dead. How any1 else feels about it? - I don't really care, I wish my fellow captains the fairest winds and the finest battles while I sail out in search for the same elsewhere.
  5. Edited the clan description.
  6. I'd actually like to thank you. I love the ship!
  7. No but if everyone sails a redoubtable then everyone is one a slightly more equal playing field, and thus we come closer to a skill based game. Mods will still be an issue ofc but I can kill most with that difference.
  8. We did see the powercreep coming. I've written about it extensively. Yet when it comes to mods and port bonus' limited to certain clans and nations it's ok. When it's something that gives a slight competitiveness to small nations then it's a problem? The redoubtable will be nowhere near as powerfull as a crafted ship unless u get real lucky with the RNG port bonus'. As to the powercreep? - Why would anyone sail anything but a snow or a 3rd rate in OW? Why would any1 in their right mind bring anything other than a couple of L'oceans + christians to a low BR PB? Why would any1 bring anything but L'Oceans and a couple of requins to a large BR PB? Balance has never been a priority and those of us that shouted for it was silenced by and large by the same players now arguing that a DLC ship with random port bonus' is somehow OP to a crafted ship with port bonus'.
  9. Balance has never been a priority.. if it had we wouldn't have had port bonus' in the first place and surps/renos would've had magical mast thickness..
  10. The redoubtable won't get port bonus' that you can pick and choose from, unfortunately, so a crafted ship will always be better than a DLC ship.
  11. A better solution would be to make the shipyard, not the port the pointcarrier, which would increase diversity, competition and make for a better balance overall. And we'd be solving a lot of other problems in regards to alt clans as well.
  12. Stats are faulty. NPC raid on Truxillo was defended by the best PvE'ers in the game.
  13. It won't help. The strong are stronger because of better equipment and larger numbers. The current system of port bonus' and strategic mods (with no other way to get strategic ressources than through alts/nation swapping) just ensures that the strong will stay strong and the rest. Well - when's the last time we saw a PB between two evenly matched nations? Sweden is cherry-bashing on GB. Russia is borsjt-smashing the dutch. No low-pop nations do RvR anymore and can any1 really blame them? Prussia is the exception, but they basically got 1 organized clan and more importantly they have access to two 55p ports. You won't see a different result by giving more time to plan - numbers on the stronger side will still be larger. EDIT: My point eluded my typing...
  14. It would be easier to see what nation Lars Kjaer plays if he could actually write in the forums. Lars has never played a strong nation tho, nor a strong clan. Someone has to be the underdog - the wins are grander, the losses more natural.
