  1. I think the main problem is going to be, quite frankly boredom. I was sailing around early today and was wondering.. so now what? This game has to fill in the gaps with content (I know its alpha just making a point) or make the game something similar to Stronghold Kingdoms, where you log on for maybe 20mins to 1 hour a day to update stuff ect. Sailing around from port A to port B for 20 minutes is boring, now you can either fill the sea with AI pirates and the occasional player, which may interest you some of the time, but there has to be an additional supplement of content to keep the user actively engaged. My opinion would be that you don't just sail 1 ship on its own, instead you can do many things from sailing all 30 minutes from port A to B, or you can return to a hub center such as each nations main port, where you can craft, construct plantations, manage small businesses ect whilst your ship/ships are sailing. It's the same as EVE online, but with that system you can literally mine ore from an asteroid, then select your destination and go AFK until you arrive, and have an alarm system which tells you that you have arrived at your destination, or if you have been intercepted by an enemy ship.
  2. Unfortunately you can't at this point, they closed pre-ordered (which are required to get into alpha) as they currently have enough data and people testing the game. Though they are planning to open pre-orders again in the future. However I don't know when, sorry.
  3. Intel Core i7-4790K at 4 GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB 16GB RAM at 1600mhz I play on Ultra at about 170fps (in storms or large battles drops to around 160fps).
  4. Perhaps its because i've not been able to log into naval action for nearly a week due to constant "connection errors".
  5. I've got a connection error and i've not been able to connect due to this error for at least a week...
  6. No, what the admin is talking about is that if a 1v1 takes 10 mins, then a battle such as 10v10 will take around the same time excluding positioning (which will increase it by about 20 mins depending on how many ships are moving into position, the larger the fleet the longer it will take). Due to the fact that you have the chance of firing on 2 ships at once per ship, whilst also having allies which will be able to focus fire on one ship decreasing the amount of time required to destroy a ship.
  7. Aye, but then you have to balance it between time for people who want to play realistic, arcade or people who want to casually play.
  8. There is no way to determine the length of a battle, i would say it lasts until either: You run away out of range of enemy guns. Sink the enemy. Capture their ship. Though in general terms battling with a ship of equal prowess i would wish battles to last anywhere from 5-15 mins. Fleet battles on the other hand (at least 10v10 upwards) , should at least last 60 mins with time getting exponentially greater as more ships are present until one side has caused the other side to retreat or has completely obliterated them. My idea of fleet battle times (average minimum time of battles, this will vary in situations such as 10v25) 10v10 - 60 mins 15v15 -80 mins 20v20 - 100 mins
  9. Cannon balls i imagine would be traveling around 300 ish mph. However as you said about the CGI show its not really dramatizing, cannonballs on their own are fairly small and do not do large quantities of damage, a lucky shot may hit the mast and send splinters flying, however if you have a broadside with 60 guns, you're really going to do some damage and it will be very devastating. Another idea i would like to debunk is the fact that some people believe that if you hit the magazine of 17th century ships, they will explode which is highly unlikely, most nearing the Napoleonic era had magazines en lined with copper, and even if a cannonball went right through one side of a ship, through the magazine and out the other side, unless there was an open flame nearby the most that would happen is a mess of gunpowder all over the floor...
  10. I would like to help test your game at its current state, i am experienced in testing modifications(Currently testing Mine colonies) and other games (Such as Battlefield 3), i know and understand how to provide valuable feedback to developers and uphold NDA's with the utmost loyalty. United Kingdom Specs: AMD FX 8350 Black Edition, x8~4Ghz 8 Gigs memory AMD Radeon HD 7950.
