[PvP] Spanish clan political situation
Christendom replied to Celtiberofrog's topic in Caribbean News
Those players were not there to screen Isla, they were sailing home to Cayo Biscayno. Due to Spain's unexpected hostility they thought it would be unwise to sail home solo. -
[PvP] Spanish clan political situation
Christendom replied to Celtiberofrog's topic in Caribbean News
The US was grinding up the port Appalachicola. Not Islamorada. Where we encountered multiple Spanish, who then proceeded to follow us all the way back to our port of Cayo Biscanyo where I'm told Pepe tried multiple times to tag one of our Oceans solo. The above mentioned screenshot of Graf tagging was taken during this encounter, I'm told prior to Pepe being tagged. I was not there and could be wrong. Regardless no one on either side was sunk and no harm/no foul. My intentions are to let Spain know that if any US player is prevented from entering the PB at Appalachicola later today, it will be viewed as an act of war. Russia has given the US the ok to take the port and it is no longer any of Spains concern who gets the port as it is not theirs to give out. We need the white oak and you have 2 up there already. So again I am simply just stating what will happen should any US players be prevented from entering the port battle today. Spain has a lot of ports without timers and it seems that it would be unwise to attack an ally with a large night time population.....over a port like Appalach which you do not need and it's not yours to begin with. Just a thought I suppose. -
[PvP] Spanish clan political situation

Since it seems Spain is at war with VCO for some reason, I'll just make it crystal clear here. Any actions taken towards the US clan or US players in the gulf tomorrow at Apalachicola will be seen as an act of war and night flipping will commence. DreamMaker from Russia (one of the very few left) has given The US the ok to take the port. https://gyazo.com/c9344c39d64f56b4df6952e17ab9d620 Hostilities were started earlier by Graf when he tagged one of our players. Unprovoked, we were simply grinding up a port we were told we can have. Again, this is a warning to Spain. The above transgression will be ignored and no further action taken. If Spain decides to attack our players tomorrow on their way to the port this will an act of war. -
Realism vs Game play. Game play needs to win in most cases. Otherwise people won't play your game. Take a look at the reviews of NA and majority of them will show you that it's too difficult, caters to the hardcore type and overall it's just boring. This is because we've catered more and more to the crowd that wants everything to be hardcore and they want to relive those first couple days of excitement when they first picked up the game and got hooked. Unfortunately we need to take those rose coloured glasses off and realize that people want to enjoy their games and the fact that we've sold 110-120k copies of this game and 2 years later we're struggling to crack 500 people online at a time means that the current direction towards hard mode isn't working. Every single time we've made this game more difficult and removed quality of life features that MOST games offer, people quit. Every single time. The worst part is the guys who request these features don't even play. They pop on for 2 weeks after every patch and then go piss off to warthunder. When I get off work and want to come home and relax, sink some brits and sail around bored for a couple of hours I really don't want to have to stock my ship up with repairs, rum, rations and fucking cannon balls. The time delay between logging on and actually finding meaningful content is already long enough to where sometimes I wonder whether or not it's worth it. For now it usually is. Add the above mentioned and it won't be. No thanks.

As always, your feedback adds much to this conversation. Keep up the good work. Like I said, if you think rage boarding is easy you don't know how to do it. Clearly you don't. Anyway a smart captain can avoid getting boarded in most rage boarding scenarios. I'm ok with a change to DD where your first attempt doesn't work OR the perk becomes a 4 or 5 point perk and other aspects of a player's loadout must be sacrificed in order to run it. Currently it's too cheap and far too over powered in it's current implementation in the game.
-
it's far better gameplay than the current get out of jail free card that most ships have right now being immune to all things boarding. Historically a third rate + support ships would be able to take down 1st rate. Third rates charged right in at trafalgar and were predominantly the main line of battle ship against larger ship engagements. I see nothing unreasonable about a third rate + help tackling a santi. What is perhaps more unrealistic is a 1st rate sailing alone. That never happened. Determined defender in it's current state is far too cheap of a perk and selecting it makes you sacrifice nothing in terms of what perks you can select. At the very least it should cost more than 2, maybe 4 or 5. You should have to give up something to get it and NOT everyone should be able to run it AND have all carpenters and emergency management. I'll reiterate my thoughts from above. DD should save you once, give a 60 or 90 second cooldown against regrapple. If you're incapacitated or unable to get out of that position you should be able to be boarded again. That seems fair.
-
Frankly it's ruined OW hunting and port battles for me. Anyone that thinks rage boarding is easy has no idea how to do it. I would changed determined defender for a 1 time cooldown on "cutting" the line grapples. First time you try and board them it doesn't work. 60 seconds later if they are still able to be boarded you should be able to pull them. Easy change.

Unfortunately the game does not do a very good job of protecting and guiding it's new players. Which is probably why we have so few new players and bad reviews with low amounts of hours played. Most developers of OW MMO sandbox games put in place ways to get their new players into the sandbox safely and then tell them to go have fun. Here at games labs its thanks for the money, adios....you're on your own now. 2 years later we got a tutorial, which is step in a good direction finally....but new players are still thrown to the wolves and the most recent reinforcement zones patch kinda solidifies that they devs have no idea what to do with new players. Another side of the coin is the community here does not do much to help it's new players. Greg's comment about not sailing with new players is pretty much exactly what happens in most nations. At some point you get tired of putting in the effort helping new players to see them constantly getting ganked or just continue to struggle with the less than intuitive aspects of this game. Why bother. I'm guilty of it myself. Luckily it seems you're getting the good and the bad of the community. Regardless players of the same clan or group of people ganking you over and over, using your stream to snipe your location is pretty despicable. We had a similar situation on global right after the wipe with a streamer named Pixelated Apollo who actually brought 10-15 guys with him and created a clan. He was farmed mercilessly up on the US coast by a certain pirate clan over and over and he eventually left the game after a couple weeks. Shame really. What's funny is most of that clan still refuses to acknowledge they caused him to quit. This was before the safe zones. I spoke to a clan member of his that stuck around a little longer and everyone in his group quit because he was farmed over and over by the pirates and could accomplish nothing in game short of dying. So maybe lets leave the giefing to a minimum towards Mo and maybe he'll stick around a bit more and help grow the game.
-
Keep up the streaming bud, this game badly needs exposure and an online presence. You show the less fun aspect of the game doing stuff like grinding, getting ganked and just the general hoops we seem to get put through due to poor design or implementation choices. While it's fun seeing guys like Moscalb sink 7 noobs with his OP bullshit, it's more enjoyable watching you figure the game out. Don't let those SNOW guys get you down. They're irrelevant and only good at seal clubbing while other nations take their ports.

It's both, and I did throw in there that there were other factors also. Fact is that the pop dropped considerably prior to the RVR changes in the weeks after Russian stopped being active and once the increase in port costs patch happened, it sealed the deal. Russia was long dead before the RVR changes if you recall. If you think that the demise of Russia didn't have a factor in the overall number of battles and general RVR activity on the server dropping you're a fool. PS - while it's cute to call them the griefing empire, lets all remember that amidst all the claims and accusations throw around against Russia....the only actual punishment handed out based off tribunals was in fact towards you and your band of friends for questionable green on green tactics used against russia. Albeit just a warning. Tale care throwing those stones around bud.

Oddly enough, I never did see you or RSC down in the Belize area to help defend after you guys lost at George Town. It's curious you seem to care about it now, because you sure didn't seem to mind then about the fate of the Brit nation. Wasn't the motto of you and your friends at the time Hachi/Otto "screw the carebears"? But right...now you care. Is this the same guy who was in a fleet with the EXILE guys to screen in the SALTYP pb fleet at Ambergrease and you guys just said screw it and joined a battle leaving the PB fleet to get tagged in by 5 Russians and get sunk to the last man? I remember asking Otto about it afterwards and his response was "fuck them". But yea now you have fake outrage about all the poor brits you never helped defend down in belize. What a joke. Also feel free to prove your exploits whine. If you'd like to lobby accusations please post them in the tribunal section. And really, how you would you know what methods were used to avoid screening......you weren't there. We purposely triggered PBs down in that area so we could fight the screeners and sink them. Even when we went after RSC shallow ports in the gulf you wouldn't show up.

Facts and Truth of Spain.
Christendom replied to Admiral Horatio Hornblower's topic in Caribbean News
Do they? Spain was up helping us out just last week at a couple shallow battles and they’ll be here tonight. The US has been down several times to help screen just like we were up screening at Bermuda in force and tagged the PB fleet in. We might not have an elite PB fleet, but we’re pretty good at tagging in screeners and losing bucs. Sure sounds like this guy is bitter AF towards Spain. Alucard or Jags sink your Ocean this weekend at Placentia? How’d you like seeing my Spanish character sailing around in a Vic at ambergrease? I see this dope is still sailing around on the HMS Fake News. Go back to being irrelevant. -

Spain has been down there sinking some 1st rates in the belize area lately. This noob probably lost one and decided the best way to fight back was to make a forum post. -

Sounds like this noob has gotten sunk by one too many Spanish. -
Yea I enjoyed the herc test thing. It was nice having fresh new content in what is normally a very stale game. I wish there were more weekly quests of a similar nature that we could do and get random goodies. Grats on passing btw, I saw it on nation the other day. I think with you and tiargo passing have 100% pass rate in the clan among active members now. Not bad

Frankly it seems like the server activity dropped without the continued content creation that was the Russian empire. We generated a metric tonne of battles in multiple regions of the map, in particular the carta area which has since been dead. Just like it was dead before we attacked down there. Like em or hate em, the largest spike of players since the early days of the EU/Global split and wipe was during the 100+ players involved in the actions in and around Carta and the 700+ player peaks we would see regularly in those days. This weekend I barely saw it crack 400+. This notion that we killed the belize population or any population of players is bullshit. Prior to our taking of carta we launched the Belize campaign and conquered most of it and yet we still had 700+ player pop spikes while fighting down at carta for a month or 2 later. This notion we killed off large populations of players is a lie. No other nation since has had the balls to take on the swedes since, unless you call what KoC is doing at night balls. It got so boring over there after Russia died that rediii (and multi other long time swedes) changed nations for more content. Meanwhile shirt birds like Banished on here who offer the population nothing but criticism like to pop bottles over the demise of Russia while they are too busy allying up with any nation that scares them and just club seals over and over while calling it content. Russia might be dead but he still lost to them a week or 2 ago. Laugh. The game overall has seemed to suffer from a lack of RVR content and the killing of a nation that was perhaps the largest content creator for a couple months definitely has stifled a large portion of the activity on the server and our population has seemed to suffer significantly from a lack of things to do (and other reasons). A large portion of players going dormant through whatever means will have a detrimental effect on a game that has so few players regardless whether or not you like them. So by all means applaud the demise of the Russian Empire while shooting yourselves in the foot. Russia took it's shot and it was fun as hell, but when you fly a little too close to the sun you come down crashing. It was a scenic ride. Personally I enjoyed my time there and probably would still be over there if we had more things to do. The flurry of activity from late Nov - mid Feb was perhaps one of the most enjoyable periods of time in the game for myself. I can't say we've seen very many full 25 on 25 1st rate battles anywhere on the map since, we used to have them multiple times a week down there by Carta. Maybe one day someone will grow a pair of cojones the size of Russia's and attack some real ports. Maybe.. until then we'll just enjoy the drama here. Not much else to do.

An easy solution would be to limit the amount of clans in alliances. We already have alliance gank groups. -

People are going to block up regardless. Look at the current France/Prussia/Dutch block. It's gonna happen. In the clan system maybe only WO and HAVOC will ally up instead of the entire dutch nation. Sounds more fluid to me IMO. The problem we have now is every clan has their friends and people they don't like and the politics behind it ruins nations. GB is a good example of this. They have been combat ineffective as a whole for the most part since the Global/EU split. Multiple clans are at each others throats because of different play styles and allies. Splitting the game up into clan based groups allows those players to play with who they want to and fight who they want. Having a couple of starter nations will also allow players to fulfill their dream of being a brit captain, but then also let players duke it out RVR wise without bull crap inter-nation politics. So Lets say 3-4 Nations as starters. GB, France, Spain maybe US or Dutch. What traditionally had heavy influence throughout the Caribbean. Players start there and grind up. Do some fleets, light PVP, maybe some light RVR against the other starter nations. Then if the player wants to become more heavily involved in RVR they purchase a letter of marque, make a war clan and go conquer some ports. They ally with whomever they want, fight who they want. If they lose everything....well back to the starter nation with them. Sounds like a cool dynamic to me. -
The Dastardly French thought they could catch the US unawares this morning while in beds or at our Mother's Day brunch. They double flipped Walker's Cay and La Desconocita on us. The no respect for brunch morning flippers were wrong. La Desconocita Battle - A good bunch were screened out and sunk by US and our Swede buddies. Walker's Cay - Again the swedes helped out with some good screening and then we wrecked face inside the battle. France lost 2 Hercs and we recovered a Naval Clock, which will be used to fund the war effort in the gulf. Our 2 losses were to a Herc getting blown up. Swedes doing work! Sneaky attempt there Frenchies, but our desire to sink you with our Hercs was greater than having omelettes du fromage with our mothers! GG to all who showed up. See you nice and late this week!

Get rid of most of the nations, create an "outlaw" or whatever faction that is entirely clan based. Similar to the current impossible mode nations. Friendly clans turn into alliances and you fight other clans and their friendly clans. Problem solved All nations do in this game create a historical division between players. -
In what was perhaps the largest array Hercs in a PB yet on the server, the US had a fight with the Brits tonight at Harbor Island. Resulted in a Brit weenie roast in and outside the port. Unfortunately we capped all 3 circles again and ended the battle way too quickly and I think our screeners prevented some of their fleet in. Thanks for coming out boys! OR we could just get rid of nations all together and made this a strictly clan based game. Problem solved.

I mean it's pretty sad this dude is streaming and helping to try and grow the community....and he just gets griefed for it. NA at it's finest.
