Ha! Missed the forum wars more than the actual game over the last 4 months Out of all the semi-casual players i know that stooped playing the game the two main reasons were: 1) Lack of PVE content (yes its a shocker but some people who like pvp dont necessarily want to do it 24/7 and like some variation) 2) No meaningful PVP, switching the same port over and over again with no repercussions might be fun for the first 20 times or so, but then it just becomes tedious, the only drive being to beat up the nation that you got into a flame war over in the forums... As for retaining the players that stayed for a only 10 hours by increasing first rate durability, thats about as logical as buying a Snickers, because the elephant is purple... A player that played for only 10 hours or less is, as stated by many, most likely due to the UI looking like you just bought dwarf fortress, and the lack of tutorial, coupled with a niche genre can put of hordes of players. Its the first impression of the game that makes or brakes it, and when i first bought the game over a year ago, my first thought was OMG i just bought "Microsoft Excel: The Game" first loging in and seeing the UI. Since i played some sailing games in the days past, getting accustomed was to the actual gameplay was not to bad, but for someone who is playing a game like this for the first time with no tutorial it must be a living hell. On the subject of ship durability nothing has changed it seems for the past year, there are those who argue that one dura is the way to go, providing facts and ideas as to how they would work to better the experience for both the casual and veteran players, and those who argue that they should have 9 lives and grow twice the size when they sail over a magical mushroom from Mario kingdom, because of raisins (yes raisins, because non have provided actual reasons ) Lest see the pros and cons of 1 dura ships across the board. Pros: 1) Players, specially new players rising through the ranks, get to experience more ships (back in January-February 2016 i when i was leveling never have i tried sailing in a Frigate or a Belle Puole, a Surprise, because i was forced to buy and basically pay for 5 copies of a Renome, which lasted till i could sail a Trinc), with crafting cost adjusted to accompany the reduction to one durability, it would diversify the ships used in lower levels. 2) Would give capturing/boarding a ship an actual meaning, other than getting one fifth of a ship that you scrape for 3 wooden planks and one cannon carriage. 3) Would liven up the market, both in the amount of transactions, and the fact that due to captured ships not being considered trash, privateers could be a part of the player driven economy and sell of their prizes. Cons: 1) People would avoid pvp out of fear of loosing mods - already addressed by 500 people. Mods are an outdated and bad implementation of ship customization, which should have been scraped a while ago. 2) There is literally only one obstacle in making one durability ships work for all players, and that is reworking the crafting system, which is long overdue anyways.

Liquicity - pretty sure this goblin has more in game money than me at this point. Crowley - bastard said we are meeting behind a Tesco to sort things out, but never specified which Tesco .... Do you even know how far away the closest Tesco is away from Lithuania ?! Every crafter in game who sells ships on the auction for less than the crafting mats price.

Important october patch information

This is how i see people trying to argument against 1 dura ships. There are 2 things that everyone keeps clinging to in order to save their 5 health point ships, which is Mods and their concern for casual players (which in most cases is just them trying to mask the fact that they dont want to loose their precious mods, but cant say it directly since they would sound like douches). Both of these can can be made balanced with 1 dura ships quite easily. Mod wise, as many stated all of them should be craft-able and/or attainable from admiralty points shop or something (not to mention they are already gonna have lower stat increases from what i understand) + they should be scaled with ships. There is no logic in copper plating requiring as much copper and workers to put on a gunboat and a Santisima. And as for the casuals, you do realize you can adjust the cost and labor hours for ships accordingly, to make brigs and light frigates craft-able on a moments notice, which would bring no discomfort for a low level casual ? The only thing that 1 dura ships will bring, is making ships finally be worth something (seriously with 1800 hours played i have never fully lost a ship excluding 2nd-1st rates, i either give it away or break it up when it runs down to 1 durability because thats how useless they are) and you will actually need to replace mods (again i have gotten gold marines when i started playing and never had to replace them in my carrier). Capturing ships in PvP will actually mean capturing a ship not a small throw away part of it, crafting and the game economy will start existing again after half a years break, and if mods and ship rpices are adjusted it will have no negative impact on the casual players what so ever.-

Important october patch information

With these two ships we will test 1 durability viability. Praised be thy Davy Jones if this will usher the end of the Super Mario era of ships having 5 lives -
On a serious note though, not sure whether its different on your skull island Hethwill, but im pretty sure all larger national clans try to conscript new players.

Made a small topic myself a while ago about various upgrades to ports in the same manner you suggest, and a guy named Babble wrote an entire dissertation before me about port structures, upgrades and such. And as much as i would like to see stuff like that implemented the last i asked and heard from the admin on the subject was that they have no plans for it since they think it would just be another time/resource sink most players would dislike and whine about. We need to start a petition that would attract enough positive reinforcement to change their mind me thinks

The 2 minute timer cannot stand!:
Ledinis replied to Yar Matey's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
The engagement rules are being changed from what i heard last. They are also making a starter zone for new players witch will limit high grade ganking of newbies to the game, until they grasp the concept of sailing. Other than that although i do believe Capitals should be safer than other ports, getting ganked outside one is not entirely an issue of the battle entry timer but a combination of: ships that costs less than toilet paper, which leads to no fear of loosing them, the existence of free-ports that cant be captured, yet for some reason allow enemy nations to harbor full assault fleets while claiming neutrality, NPC fleets being a decoration instead of actual patrols. Theres a lot of other things they could do to make pvp focus on the front-lines of waring nations. -
Havent asked for them myself but from what the other players on our TS are saying the British captains that got the Ocean, Heavy Rattle and Aga BP's craft them for any higher level captain, so long as he brings his own mats and labor hour contracts.
-
If you did this as a Pirate, and it was the Brit captains own lack of perception, well played. If you used an alt for this treachery, you need to be flogged and hanged... no ... that would be to lenient. You should be tied down in a chair and force read the entire twilight saga.

Did you just say youre going to have dinner to ditch everyone in national TS and went to the forums to post ? o.o
-
Think you just got lucky m8 From the national TS on pvp 1 everyone who opened chests so far say the loot aint exactly awe inspiring Though in all honesty after having been part of the even today again, seeing 3 huge fleets 5 mins sail away of each other straying still waiting for the wrecks to appear, im starting to think this should be a PVE server exclusive event and we need to go back to the drawing board and think of something that would encourage pvp engagement
