  1. We always used to be able to do this, talk to eachother, see eachothers names, befriend eachother in PvP and PvE. I always considered the age of sail battles to be somewhat gentlemen like, with some respect between enemies and some unwritten rules in regards to SoL firing at frigates etc. I think the French even refused to use exploding cannonballs as it was unfair for the enemy crew. Obiously allot of players aren't very gentlemen like, but allot of them are. Now there is no way in PvP to barter with you enemies in OW, or to see a trade ship you would let go if you knew it was a low rank but chase if it was high rank. I found the game allot more amusing with all chat en visible player names. The ocasional o7 to an enemy is entirely impossible. There is a feature to turn enemy chat off i believe, so why not bring it all back. For sure in PvE, we all talk in Global anyway.
  2. Hi, Don't know if this has been asked before, but it seems we can't befriend people from enemy nations on PvE. I get that we don't want that on PvP, but why not on PvE. Why not show the enemy names. The term enemy doesn't realy mean allot on PvE we all there for some good times, not to be toxic vs eachother. This might have been asked before, so I apoligise in advance. Greetings, Spud.
  3. I agree, I think some use the bad reviews as leverage to encourage the devs to do "changes". Every game has its lifespan, after 2000 hours you might have done and seen it all. The devs can't keep adding new things to do or test, at some point the game does become the same thing over and over again. I've been away from this game for nearly a year cause I was bored of it. I'm back now again, having fun. Never felt like I would leave a bad review, i had way to much fun to give this game a bad review.
  4. I started to play on the PvE server after a long time on the PvP server, and I see more reasons why a PvE server is a good option for this game. I mainly changed cause i do not have a ton of hours anymore to put in this game, and to be fair if you don't have 1,5 - 2 hours to play its not a good idea to log in PvP, cause PvP might get you caught in a battle just as you were about to dock up and will have you either give up your ship or postpone whatever you were planning on doing. And the PvE lets you pick your fights and quit in the OW wherever and whenever. I think the devs should look into getting as much PvP as possible into the PvE server, without touching the above. I have yet to test the Solo PvP, but I bet its good fun. There are so many options that could have PvP happen while PvE people can still go carelessly around their business never being bothered by any of it. Have nations do port battles, but all they fight for is who can collect the taxes, nothing else changes anybody can use the port. If you're digging deep into the hardcore RvR PvP scene, your realy locking yourself into a niche. And I think so many more people could appreciate this game if it would be less hardcore in some ways.
  5. I can only imagine any ship that has a fire that seems to be "out of control" would send the men in disarray. and maybe even have them ignore captains orders and leave their stations to help get the fire under control. That being said a captain that has a ship that is on fire would for sure assign as many men as possible to putting out the fire, no point in having sailcrew on deck if the rigging and eventualy the ship will be destroyed. If the ship is a fireship, it should have the option to not put crew on survival as the crew would know the intention is to fireship it. If its not it should put as many crew as possible on putting out the fire, right to the point the fire is unstopable at which point all that is left is to fireship it.
  6. Can someone tell me how we need to get a "LGV Refit" in the current patch?
  7. The PvE server could in the end become what will make this game famous, dispite the devs efforts to make the PvP part as hardcore as possible. I see 170+- player ons PvE, this was never more than 50 before. Don't know how many ppl are on PvP atm. Add a feature where you can accept or decline PvP battles in OW no matter where on the PvE servers. Make group battles possible. Maybe even portbattles without ever losing ports, just for fun, or practice for the PvP clans. There would be no need for NA Legends.
  8. Maybe make a list instead of a grid. So you have the icon on the left, the name next to it, and then maybe the stats. And like in windows, you can sort them by catagory or something. Could have both grid and list version options at the push of a button.
  9. On the topic of closing timers, can someone update me on what they currently are for: OW Fights, missions and PB's. Cheers. (sorry for offtopic).
  10. I agree on all of this, but I if I'm not mistaken, then they said that they removed it cause it drew away PvP from the OW (people would organise big battles in there, was good fun tho). They created the concept of NA Legends for the people who wanted arcade style arena fights that were balanced. I hope they add a practice room, but I have little hope for it.
  11. I think in the end all we'll be able to do is just help new players, do some missions together. thats probably the easiest. Just make some advertising in national chat.
  12. Thats a perfect example of something a new player wouln't immediatly understand, and he will have lost allot of coins before he gets that. Altho, he will get the XP instead. But he won't have the option if he wished to use it.
  13. Its easy to rank in PvE, but people won't bother ranking in PvE to do it all over again in PvP. It just needs to be clear from the beginning what new players are getting into, so they don't complain afterwards. It has a steep learning curve, and it'll probably take a long time untill the player will be more or less satisfied with his own performance. The nations and clans should be encouraged to take in new members. Maybe give clans a small fee if they recruit players who've never joined a clan before, or give a small reward when a player in their clan ranks up (even if its just like 10 rig, 10 hull and 25 rum) might be enough for that extra effort.
  14. @admin It doesn't need the masses, and it'll never reach the masses. Its just that the game seems to be increasingly easier as you rank up. Its probably a good idea to state this in your game presentation somewhere, so people know its not for the faint hearted. The 7th and 6th rates are the hardest to rank up, nearly no OW targets, and traders are almost equaly gunned. It might be difficult for a new player to see that its "smooth sailing" when you reach propper 5th rate ships. As traders are easy peasy to cap, and the OW targets are less of a challenge as you rank up. I haven't played the tutorial in a long time, and don't know what other stuff is teached and told. I think it would be a good thing to take in consideration. I think none of us are saying this for our direct benefit, we just want more players and want them to stick around so we can all have more fun.
  15. I've come back to this game after a half year of as good as no game time. I've completely restarted my character. I started as lieutenant commander and 155 crew. Don't know if this is cause i still have the tutorial checked as done, or if you start at 155 crew by default. Any player who picks this game up today, will most likely ragequit en uninstall the same day. The tutorial, unless changed, is realy difficult to complete for a new player. If the player proceeds to do missions or fight AI. He will hardly find any missions available for his class, nor will he find any OW AI that is a match for him. If he loses the first few games, which is very likely, even if its in a free basic cutter, he'll most likely uninstall and never look back. If you're in a clan it will be much easier, but most of the new players will not get to that point. Get more low level missions, more low level AI ships, so at least they can practice a bit so they can get to the point of doing PvP and don't quit after just a couple of hours of gameplay.
