I have not loged into POTBS in over a year, what it like now? I noticed there forums and sight are still down. Saw there was some new patches.....its been a while....kind of miss it sometimes.. Infact I havn't even been on this forum in a while I noticed there forums and sight are still down. Hows naval action been going? I gotta get back on and test. Any of you guys play assassins black flag? I been playing that one lately for my pirate fix. For sand box instant grad game its really pretty good. Worth playing.

I also played post portalus era if you will. I had to switch over all my CHRs, it was fairly simple. I also learned how to duel box with there new clients. But I only played for a week or so, then quit. So I know my alts are there. Just before 2.11 I sort of dispanded my SOC and asked all members to take what was there's out of the warehouses. I kept my soc name intact, and soc influence. I sold off a anything I didn't need, and then took all dbls off of my alts and put it on my primary account, I also transfered any thing of value to my main CHR. I then buried my gold LOL. My reasoning behind it, was I knew POTBS was probably not going to recover, but if they did and if there was some sort of turn around with the game. I would still have my CHRs, my in game money, influence, ships and econ ready to go. Other wise I would just move on. I would love to see it a miracle recovery, but I know that it is far off.

Forum Trolling...I never would have guessed that went on.....cough cough
  5. It is a great mod and complete, epic battles, period matching music and the list goes on. I still have not played the napoleon version yet. Empires was probably my fav total war, because I enjoy that period of history. I played many hours of it a few years ago right when it was released then put it until just recently when I saw your super mod. DarthMod reminds a little of GWX for for Silent Hunter 3, it was a vary complete over-hall for the game, that added a ton of new content.
  6. I really am enjoying that mod, didn't even realize when I down loaded that the person who made works for Game Labs til today. That's some cool stuff!
  7. I know:) Made empires into a new game. The music is a prefect choice for that game, and the new battles are just epic. Kind of wondering if hes got anything planed for Rome 2 lol I played IL-2, and my all time fav combat sim rise of flight. They got some good talent! I have a funny feeling when naval action is complete it will be epic.
  8. Did any of the makers of "Darthmod" work on naval action currently? I saw on the Gamelabs sight it was one of the titles was Empires "Darthmod". I just downloaded darthmod for empires TTW over the weekend and must say I'm quite impressed. Its breathed a ton of new life into empires.

I think the reason for that is its using the M&B engine which was pretty much a melee and shooting 3rd/1st person game. So they probably had to design the ship com completely from scratch. So its probably going to be great avcom with sub par ship com. Were POTBS was good ship com with sub par avcom. Well I must confess there was parts of POTBS avcom I found fun, like epics, skirms and dueling. I hated boarding though, always felt that was just broken and really exploitable. Carribean is an indi early alpha so Its really any ones guess on how good the final release will be. Based on the fun I had playing M&B, and the low price of Carribean, I think It might be worth me playing. I'm going to go into it not expecting much out of ship com, but expecting land and boarding/land battles to have that same fun M&B had. In other news lol I also have revisited over the weekend TTW Empires recently, with the "DARTHMOD", which is a complete over hall to the game. The battles are both land an sea are much more epic, and there are quite a few new units and nations to chose from. That mod is well worth getting for anyone who wants to revisit Empires. EDIT: I think some of the people from gamelabs worked on Darthmod....holy crap....interesting! Greatwork!

Hey Pnakotic, your 100% right if POTBS had something like the M&B avcom system it would have been incredible. Carribean caught my eye too, its an early alpha. Its using the beloved mount and blade engine, with ship com and ship boarding. So 1st & 3rd person AVCOM both and land & sea. Mount and Blade melee and shooting avcom is just addictive fun and honestly had a blast playing M&B. Its an asome system. Boarding combat looks really fun. It should be cool. It more then likely will not be MMO but will have multi player battles. The only cons I saw is the ship com combat looked pretty crude, same with thee old M&B turn base strategy map. It's early maybe so you never know. But it will make up for it in stupid fun avcom! Regardless I may pick it up to hold me over til Mount & Blade Banner lord comes out or Naval Action gets finished. Its also cool its on steam! The link: http://snowbirdgames.com/?cat=11〈=en As far as POTBS it has BEEN dead to me, its been over for some time now. I moved on a while ago and found better games. Their web site even, hasn't been one in a really really long time, which tells me they dont even care anymore. Its going to fizzel out, if it hasn't already. Put a fork in it!
  11. Tedro? lol is that you ha ha
  12. I think its will be a while before it is completely finished. How long I don't really know. From what I have seen so far it appears the developers are developing it in steps focusing ship related things, combat 1st, sailing, then later the open world and what comes with that. That's just an observation and speculation though. I could be completely wrong. I think patience is really important here. Also we should be realistic on what they can do and not let you imaginations run too wild. TTW Rome 2 is a example of people expecting way more then what they were going to get. I am by no mean comparing NA to Rome 2, but if we let our imaginations run to wild a similar thing could happen. Me I expected Rome 2 to turn out the way it did. Because I was a realist.
  13. Speaking for myself I prefer only to pay once for the game itself. Exp packs or none pay to win items I don't mind paying for so much, so long there's allot of bang for your buck. I also would love to see a player ran economy. When I say that I mean everything ship building, ammo, powders, ship parts, out-fitting, port logistics/ defense.....as much as possible.
  14. Age of Pirates 2 was a really neat single player age of sail game. The one thing I will say about it is you really should apply one of the super mods to it before playing it, like GOF. I got allot of game play out of it and feel (moded) it is probably had the true to life feel to it I have seen out of any age of sail game. Although it is pretty dated. There is rumors floating around they maybe working on a 3rd installment....maybe. Pirates Ahoy also showed a "Hearts of Oak" indi game in the works. Don't expect a speedy development on that one, its pretty much unpaid modders making it, so it will get done when it gets done. But I was pretty impressed with the screen shots and concept videos. POTBS of course in its prime was the best MMORPG age of sail game out and really didn't have too much comp. Due to the fact there really is only 3 other age of sail mmo games that I know of ever and they pretty much sucked. POTBS is dead now though due to crappy management and piss poor patches which was down right shameful considering how successful it was for a while. I never really was that into AC so I will not comment. I did not play "Age of Sail" either. We forgot TTW Empires and Napoleonic which was not as good as empires. It has age of sail ships and a really good combat system, although it is a Turn base with RTS battles. Empires I thought did a really good job showing the 1700s and really early 1800s. There is Wind of Luck which is a MMORPG, I saw some of the screen shots, and kind of looked crude and cartoonish, not something I want to play. But its not done. Recently NA is probably the most promising thing I have seen for a decent age of sail game in developent. The team seems to be on the right track, and honestly I don't really have any complaints about anything thing they have stated. Whats weird is everything they have stated is exactly how I would like an age of sail game. So I'm being patient and think they should take as much time as the need, not get caught up to much in deadlines and just do it right:)

One example that set potbs apart and would love to see again is the player ran economy that potbs had. Advanced economy I dove into after playing a while, and I really enjoyed it. It was much slower paced then say Shipcom and AVCOM pvp. But it took allot of strategy, and was almost a passive form of pvp. It worked for me it made me pretty much self contained. So I hope to see a player ran economy in NA. I think because of potbs's economy system and conquest system, it almost gave the game a living breathing world feel to it. That is something they did right and really well. Edited
