Here I have marked the regions that are uncontested historically (according to the devs map and time period), and therefore should be safe bets after the map reset.
Crooked (Region) is set to British based on devs saying about Pitt's Town:

Pitt's town will change nation - if you have assets in Pitt's town - move them out.
